well heres wut a lot of you have been waiting for, the official title for Zelda on GCN is.....

The Legend of Zelda: ゼルダの伝説 風のタクト

the actual japanese text probly wont show up right.

see heres the problem, i dont know japanese. one of the guys at RPG Warehouse tried to translate it and he got Tact of the Legendary Wind from the japanese text. Now supposedly, the word which translated as Tact is suppose to actually mean stick or rod in english.

So, if anyone happens to know any forms of japanese, or has a really good translator, then please let us know. But for now, one thing seems to be evident. The part about a legendary wind is not that farfech'd, anyone who has read the recent preview on PGC will see that wind has some sort of very important role in Zelda GCN. the guys at RPG Warehouse are still working on getting this title perfectly translated, but this should give you a good idea for now.

Yes, they kept going on about how this game is revolved around "wind", so the title fits, while I am still eager to know how it fits in. Thanks for posting!

Well.... At The Legends of Zelda webite (The Legends of Zelda (http://loz.zeldalegends.net)) it says that the title translates to "Wind of Takuto" and that Takuto maybe either the island Link is on or tact.

I personally would like "Legendary Wind of Takuto", Takuto being the island's name, better than either of the other two.

Legend of Zelda: Kaze no Takuto

Takuto is in katakana so it would translate to tact. Tact of the Wind. But in this case tact means a baton, the kind a symphony conductor would use. So its a reference to a thing or item which guides/conducts/controls the wind.

Well, I did translate all the symbols and I have the Romanji (the Japanese characters converted to English) of the title.

Zeruda no densetsu kaze no takuto

So with my limited knowledge of Japanese vocabulary and grammar, I'm going to agree with the translation that The Legends of Zelda site gave.

I'll try and look up that "takuto" word

EDIT: Nevermind, the post above me pretty much sums up what the word means.

according to the AltaVista Translator, it translates to

Takt of the legendary wind

...so I actually kind of like that...

It may very well involve wind in the title. Much like ocarina. It the BIGGEST part of the game, but niether is the wind.

I would show you the differences but these forums dont seem to support Japanese text. Ginkasa is correct "Legendary Wind of Takuto" is the best translation BUT they will probably change the name for the Amereican release anyway.
