If you didn't know, Akira is a great anime science fiction anime from 1988. Anyway, they are planning to make a live action version of the movie here in the U.S., under the direction of Stephen Norrington. I was just wondering what the people who have seen Akira here think about it.

I personally think its a bad idea. Making a live action version (especially here in the U.S.) is probably the worse thing they could do to it.

Here's a link BTW: Akira Coming to Hollywood (http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/373/373990p1.html)

they should just make an anime movie for Akira, unless they have already *shrugs*

i think that would be better than live action, i've never actually seen Akira but chances are that an japanese anime turned into an american live action wont have the best results.

Well Akira was an anime movie wasn't it?? I got the tape at me and it doesn't look like it could be a series the way it ended.

Akira was good for it's time, but if you watch it now for the first time...you might now give a very fond opinion of the amine.

Back to the topic.
Putting that anime in movie form just doesn't seem logical and it don't know if they can get it done right ( since movie based on animes never really capture the essense of the anime or even come close to the feel)

Btw if they do happen to pull it off, I going to be there on opening night. :D

I've seen Akira. I thought it was really good. I don't relly think a real action movie would be any good. But I would be intersted to see it. I would definately go see it. Hopefully, it will be really good.
