Anybody here looking forward to this game? I can't remember a topic being made about it recently or nutin, and PSM did a big article/interview thing on it in the latest issue and I think it sounds awesome (I enjoyed MK2 quite a bit when we owned it on SNES)...
Well as most of you who've heard aboot ze game probably know, they rebuilt the fighting system from the ground up... previous MK games just had like high and low punch and kick buttons, and a block button... and then the special moves... But now it's different than that, allowing for characters to have even more y'know... differences and stuff I guess...
Then later in the series they added crap like spells and projectiles and a run button... all of which were tossed out for this game...
Also, some levels will have interactive thingies... bashing people through statues or acid to do more damage...
Also there are these "Koins" you can collect by playing the game (arcade or this konquest mode where you go up against a series of challenges which get harder and harder)... And if you have friends that own the game too, you can bet koins on 2 player vs. matches... And what they do is open up Koffins (everything has to be spelled with a k instead of a c ;) ) which is how you get stuff like secret characters and levels, along with a lot of other things like concept art and the like... Although some have nothing at all (so basically, what you earn from them is a gamble)... there are 676 koffins in all...
Oh and back to konquest mode, the lead developer guy promises a big prize once you beat all the missions... hmm... I wonder what it is? I doubt it's a special character or level since those are unlocked through coffins... a guess I have is maybe unlocking like... MK1 or 2... or both... or all past MK games for that matter... as like an extra mode... I think that'd be sweet (well, MK1 and 2 at least)... But I dunno...
Also each character has like 3 different fighting styles (2 based on hand to hand combat, and 1 based on a weapon... each character has a different weapon)... and when it comes to combos, you can switch styles quickly and easily, so you can start a combo in one style, and finish it in another...
And when it comes to fatalities, there are a whole lot of new ones... even returning characters get a lot of new'uns... My only complaint is that there will be nothing like friendships or babalities... :( They were funny... But they say they want to try to make the game a bit more serious, so yeah...
Also because they aren't developing the game for arcades (where they cut the story short because in the arcades you try to give the player the best gaming experience in the shortest amount of time), they can impliment the story a bit more... Which apparently has to do with the 2 evil sorcerers (Quan Chi and Shang Tsung) forming an alliance... What will this alliance be like? Well I'm putting my money on deadly... LMAO OMG I'M HILARIOUS!
Anyways... I'll shut up now cuz the post is getting too long... then again, it is a preview I guess... a crapilly (is that even a word?) thrown together preview...
So yeah the game sounds awesome, IMO... I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a dissapointment... :-o
