Well, it seems more and more public schools (Atleast in my area) are beginning to enforce a uniform policy. When they first started to pitch the idea of uniforms, I thought it was pretty good. (At the rate they were going I'd be out the system before they got around to it, and heck to some extent that is what happened), but now that the uniforms have been impanted into the system I kind of think the idea sucks.
But before I go into my opinion on this,I want to see other folks' opinion.

My school has uniforms. I don't know what's the big deal. I don't give a sh*t. I just wear them to school, and that's it?

REBEL! Fight the power!
School uniforms suck, and I feel them to be a stupid idea. I plainly refuse to ever wear any sort of school uniform. Luckily, no one is even discussing the idea around here -- Or at least not openly.
Then again, though, most of us will end up wearing some type of uniform for our jobs later in life (Whether you're a cop, computer repair guy, or work at 7-11), so...

School uniforms eliminate the pressure of trying to fit the latest style. Kids can than focus more on their academics and less on what's cool to wear.
Over here, every school has a uniform. I hated it when we came back from the US, and complained about it every day. My Dad said that there was a research about this, and that students who go to schools which have uniforms are more successful.
I guess these rules are for the best.

Thankfully I am a Senior in HS. I think they were thinking about the idea here, but nothing has really happened. But IMO, I don't think School Uniforms are the best thing. There are good and bad things. But overall, it would just get boring to go to school wearing the same(or a slight variation if the school allows) outfit everyday. meh

from one side, i think uniforms are a good idea, because it would take less time for you to figure out what youre going to wear to school that day. and allow you to commit a crime and blame it on someone else:sneaky: :D
on the other hand, i think its not a very good idea because uniforms might not be comfortable, and don't let you express who you are...they don't make you look unique(sp?)...so...yeah...i wouldn't really mind having them...and i wouldn't really mind not having them...
right now im a senior in HS...so it's my last year...and we don't have uniforms here, and nobodyis talking aboot it ether, there wwas this one time when they wanted to have uniforms but alot of the students rebeld(sp?) so the proposition didnt work.

My skool has had em for 2 years now. Its not that bad. Its not just like white and navy or something, we have a pretty wide range of uniforms and stuff. The thing that bothers me is that I spend all my money on those, but then when I want to go out on weekends or to a party or something, I hardly have any regular clothes cause I had no money left to buy em:(

Yeah, all public schools have uniforms over here (good thing Im in private school, but was public for 3 years) and they suck. People never followed the code anyway.

Nobody has school uniforms in my area. Most people I know would probably bitch about it if they did make you have them, but I wouldnt care.

In the school system I attened from Kindergarden till the end of Freshman year we didn't have uniforms, then I changed schools, and now I do have them--- a maroon sweater, gray pants, skirts or skorts, white shirts (oxford or golf style).
Honestly, I really do prefer them to the way it was b/f I transfered schools. We still do have major ways of expressing ourselves, that is never a problem. It's actually A LOT cheaper to have uniforms, at least for me, because I've had the same ones since Sophmore year and haven't needed to by any new school clothes at all, where as I often had to in my old school... this gives me MORE money to spend on regular clothes throughout the year.
It also grounds people, b/c the really rich people can't go bragging about their $300 tee-shirts duing school!!
