My internet explorer is messed up, see, what happens is that when theres anything running that takes up a moderate amount of ram (e.g. Kazaa, MSN, and so on) my internet explorer will just freeze and it'll say, error has occured and blah blah blah, everyone knows that message:D, but anyways, Happydude666 recommended that I get the Windows Update, but now the problem is that you get the updates fromt he internet, using internet explorer, and right when i'm about to Download them the f**kin message shows up again, i've degfragmented my hardrive, i've used scan disk, i've deleted all the programs i don't need, and i've checked for viruses, I'M CONFUSED!!!!!
Can anyone help me??????

Get more RAM? Thats all I can think of....
i've noticed on mine.
When im running Grokster (aka Kazaa, or Morpheus) and i try to type in explorer, it will lock up.
so does it happen when you have kazaa completely off? ie. off the system tray too.
some crap in thoes stupid programs i think it uses parts from windows and it messes windows up. i had it fixed once but it came back.
so now i just dont use grokster or kazaa much. and if i need to i do it when i wont need to use explorer.
But that may not be the same prob you have.

Download Ad-Aware(if you haven't already) at http://download.com.com/3000-2094-10121984.html?tag=lst-0-1
And Ref Update so that your Ad-Aware is up to date on the latest Spyware. http://download.com.com/3000-2094-10109053.html?tag=lst-0-2

Surely a cynical chap like you would know the answer to that one. But I won't repeat it here lest I offend someone. I'll just say that it involves a sheep metaphor.

*bigger cough* Opera, Galeon/Mozilla *bigger cough*
Opera has the best UI, speed and general funkiness (like the built-in google-and-every-other-search-engine-ever search, and the online dictionary/encyclopedia for highlighted text) , but Moz has much better pop-up killing abilties and is free. And IMO they both rip netscape a new one.
IE doesn't even warrant comparison. Begone. Last time I used IE was... um... about 6 months ago? I dunno, I lose track. Never looked back, and the more and more I use Opera and Mozilla (which, is has to be said, is nowhere near as good in windows as it is in Linux, esp under the guise of galeon), the more the prospect of HAVING to use IE horrifies me.

Just downloaded Opera (had it longgg ago when it was new. didnt like it then.)
but i LOVE it now. its been totally perfect.
but i come in here now and the grid for this forum is all funky, like the left collum where names and avatars are..... are differnt sized for each person. :(
only bad thing i seen so far.

Yeah, it's to do with the fact that every single browser handles tables differently. Nested tables are a pain in the arse at the best of times, so no-one wants to bother rewriting any code, so they just tweak it until they work in IE and then leave it, despite the way IE handles tables being utterly retarded (did you know it's possible to have a table occupying 100% of an area, along with another table at 10% of the area and yet more tables at say 15 pixels all coexisiting in IE? Seems stupid to me).
You want proof? My friend rewrote vBulletin so that the tables actually worked properly in Opera and Netscape... you can see them at www.demolicious.org/forums.
That's what a sight should look like when it's actually designed to STANDARDS, and not just "the browser everyone uses".

I reformatted my comp :D
I actually quite enjoy reformatting my computer.
every once and a while on a weekend i just reformat my drive.
all my personal stuff and programs are on my 2nd drive. so it makes it easy.
i want to do it again cuz my windows drive is listed as F:
my 2nd drive is X:
and i have no C: drive. which is a pain cuz lots of programs install default C:\

What?!? You're telling me that you LET programs install to their default directories?!?
Bad security vulnerability that, you know. That way, if someone finds a security flaw in a particular program, they can find that easily just by hopping down the folders tree to the default install zone. If the default install zone ain't there, problem solved. There's lots of vulns that use attacks like this (subscribe to bugtraq and you'll see).
I remapped my Program Files dir to a different partition, and never use the standard install anyway. It's always Program Files\Internet\Foo\foo.exe and suchlike for moi.
no no no. see some things WANT to only be on C drive thats whats messing me up. every program i download or put on goes on my seperate drive. so if windows goes kaput (windows?? noooo, that could never happen to windows :D ) everything i have will be ok.
problem lies with things like the virus program. stupid thing wants to download updates. then it goes to install th em and doesnt give me a choice of where the update goes. and an error comes up saying cannot copy files blah blah to C:\ blah blah.
i dont see a way to make it change that.
another thing *coughtcrackcough* wants to be on C: drive only to work right.
stupid thigns like that. Smart programs know the drive windows is on and adjust. (altho thoes programs give me a choice so it wouldnt matter)
just stupid things like that. i thought maybe id just partition it so theres a smaller C drive where if programs need it, it will be there for them.

I knew what you meant, I just wanted an excuse to have another rant about windows being cr@p... :D
If you want to change the default install path, you can edit the registry or use a tool like TweakUI to change the default installation path.

yea i have thoes tweak programs. tweakUI, tweakXP.
my default install path is F: blah blah
but certain programs dont follow the default. not really programs more like updates or um other stuff for programs ;P they want C drive ONLY, and dont care what your instal path is.

Ah... I've been lucky enough never to come across any progs like that, and if I did then I wouldn't use them, cos that's retarded.
The way windows handles discs/partitions is totally retarded too, but that's besides the point...
yea it is.
but its not really programs that do it. cept for the virus program. never had troubles installng updates before. but this 1 update keeps forcing it self to install on C:
