“Splinter cell is third-person stealth action title based on the Tom Clancy universe, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell will grant players access to the highest echelons of national security, where shadowy operatives have the freedom to do whatever it takes to safeguard America. In Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, the player controls Sam Fisher, a field operative of a secretive "black-ops" NSA sub-agency called Third Echelon. Sam Fisher is geared up to infiltrate high-security strongholds, seize critical intelligence, destroy threatening data and neutralizes the enemy - all without leaving a trace. Developed by Ubi Soft's Montreal Studio in Canada, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is a unique experience that will have the player thinly skate on the fine line that separates fact from fiction.”
Splinter cell
One of the last games I took the time to see at ECTS was Splinter cell from UBI soft and boy did I leave the best till last. The first thing I could see well walking to the UBI soft stand was the amount of people all standing around looking at the plasma Screen TV’s you could just tell some thing was looking good very good in fact. So after some time of looking and waiting around the UBI soft stand my time came to play the game that so many are hyped up about.
I’m not going beat around the bush here this game looks absolute stunning the attention to detail is amazing with clever use of lighting and bump mapping this game has a real world feel not found in any other game to date on the Xbox or any other console. The animation of Sam Fisher is well thought out and very smooth running the moves seem to link into one another with no faults or jumps in the animation at all. Also the Frame rate seem to very steady with no hint of slow down as you jump run and climb your way around the levels the textures also seem to be of a detailed high resolution which when mixed with the advanced lighting effects and bump mapping give you a almost real world look to the game.
Luckily all the graphical splendor of the game are not wasted on a poor game play engine with controls that feel solid and responsive on the Xbox controller which makes the game ease and enjoyable to move around the offices and courtyards of the game. Jumping onto things is well done with the option to aim and kill things well you’re hanging off a pipe or a roof with one hand. But the main point of the game is sneaking around you will not last very long in the game if you try playing the game like Quake or Doom. The game also supports the Xbox online service but has no multiplayer game play modes but you will be able to down load new weapons and levels from the service adding to the life of the game.
All in all Splinter cell is shaping to deliver what it has promised all along and could very well be MGS2 betting experience I for one look forward to playing this game some more this October.
More details coming soon on Xbox365. :D
