Halo 2 and Grand theft auto for GCN?

Ok well one of my friends says Halo 2 and Grand theft auto sumthing will be comming out for GCN :rolleyes: . I didn't belive him and still don't. Being that halo2 is owned by microsoft. Can someone set me straight on if any of these 2 games will be coming out for GC?

Microsoft owns the development team behind Halo. It won't be on Gamecube.

Sony has exclusive rights to the GTA series through 2004, I think.

What about the PC versions of the GTAs? If they have exclusive rights, it's a little strange...

But it could be like Sony - Psygnosis. Psygnosis could port any PSX game they developed to any system, but weren't allowed to make exclusive games on other systems.

I doubt Microsoft is going to let Bungie do what Psygnosis did. I think the Psygnosis deal was different too... Sony was looking to dump them when the ports were being done. And in the end the only games I can remember making it to other systems before Sony finally cut Psygnosis loose was Wipeout for Saturn and Crazy Ivan for PC. Halo 2 IS coming up for GameCube though... its called Metroid Prime.

I thought the exclusive deal covered only GTA3? That's why GTA Vice City isn't offically GTA 4....

I believe they own the majority of Bungie, meaning they basically have full control over Bungie. I'm not exactly sure about the percent... I'll look into it.

There's no "contract" that I know of. You maybe mistaken with a deal Bungie had with Take 2 before the MS buyout. Take 2 bought something like 19.9% of the company to get Oni on PS2 and to get the distribution rights to Bungie stuff. When MS bought out Bungie, from what I know of they own them outright, Oni and Myth 3 got handed over to Take 2 as part of the deal to get Halo and Bungie.

And if you're thinking "what about Halo for PC and Mac...." that was also part of the deal. Halo coming to PC and Mac is more less MS appeasing PC and Mac gamers. The whole deal was pretty complicated. And Microsoft, shortly after the buyout, confirmed that Halo would be part of some lineup of MS Win games going Mac. Like Ages of Empires and some other stuff.
