More and more sites use pop-ups now. Once you pop the fun just stops...
Try geting some software to prevent some pop-ups (they arent good on all of them). I think Spyware is a pop-up preventer.

Ok, firs the pop-ups, they are nothing but f**kin' SPYWARE!!! All pop-ups do si "implant" spyware and get in the way of your PC's usefulness. If you have about $45.0 US Dollars, go and Download "ZoneAlarm Pro with PestPatrol" bundle, this is a real lifesaver. After you close your website conections, run PestPatrol and set it to "Auto-Update", this alows PestPatrol to "Patrol" for Spyware, if it finds any (doubleclick cookies, cracking tools etc, etc.) you'll get a notice on our scren and you can choose to "Quarrentine", "Delete", or "Ignore" just like a VirusScan program, EXCEPT PestPatrol goes after SPYWARE, Cracking Tols, and other "Pests" instead of Viruses, you can find out fi someone's trying to hack into your machine with this so that ditches some spyware. As for ZoneAlarm Pro, the new version (3.x) allows you to "Block" pop-up ads and crap on your screen that doesn'ty load in a certain amount of time, however it may prevent you from viewing some websites, use your judgement on this.
Finally as for Porno stes, take that talk somewhere else, not GT.

If you haven't heard of Ad-Aware, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a download. Just go to www.download.com (http://www.download.com) and search for Ad-Aware. That should help alot. Also, download Ref Update. It updates the reference file for Ad-Aware if there is a new one to keep Ad-Aware up to date on new Spyware to look for.:D

He (And anyone else, for that matter) is allowed to talk about porno as much as he wants. He just isn't allowed to post pictures of it...

I know he or anyone else (including a she) can discuss porno, what they "CAN'T" do is post it as you said), or post links to it, that also violates vB, and GT policies that we have set up, but yes, you are rigt, he can talk about it, just not post it (or links to it). I should have made this clearewr eairlder, I apologize.
As for Ad-Aware, it's the smae type of rogram as pest-patrfol, except pestpatrol hasn't been "damaged" by certain SPYWARE that Deletes Ad-Aware depening on what version you have and how new the Spyware is. (I hate SPYWARE    ), PestPatrol comes Bundled with ZoneAlarm Pro sometimes for *free*, mainly because it's distrubuted, but not produced by, the same company, and for the $50.00 US Dollars the ZA Pro firewall costs, an extra bonus is great, also ZA Pro blocks most of the op-Ups around unlike regular ZoneAlarm, so it's worth the little "wire-transfer" for the program, I'd reccomend it for Broadband users and people with a 56k connection who jus seem to get every "code red" clone out there, I don't reccomend MacAffe VirusScan because I have two PC's, run running Windows 98 SE and one running Windows ME, and MacAffe Firewall wouldn't let me get online, even afvter I "tweaked" it, the only solution was to remove it, return it to Staples, and buy ZoneAlarm Pro which works just fine, maybe it's becuase MacCaffe Firewall has a WinXP Control Pannel and had jsut been released, but the guy who I had help me get my PC running again after the Windows ME crash that stuck me with having to "bootleg" my own d@mn Recovery CD because Alienware wouldn't replace there damaged/defective product (another reason I hate M$) and set up my Broadband connection said MacCaffe Firewall doesn't work wel on alot fo computers, and AOL 7.0 is very similar, for some reason AOL 7.0 Runs fine but MaCCAffe Firewall doesn't, so ZA Pro is my choice, it's also good agaiuns IE hackers, so that with the Pestpatrol bundle is what I'd take if you don't have a firewall. If you have a firewall, try Ad-Aware as someone else mentioned, otherwise, I'd go with the Firewall/Spyware removal bundle.
so can somone tell me the best top three FREE pop-up blockers and spyware killer?
i have pop up cop not sure if it is good or bad.
and should i block all cookies or not?

IF you disable cookies, you ,lose alot of Intenret acess, you can "firewwall" your entire computer, but you won't get online.
As for the bes SPYWARE dection and removal systems, here's my list:
1. ZoneAlarmPro w/ PestPatrol Bundle (Works great, finds cracking tools and other Adware as well) moren on the reason for Including ZoneAlarm in a minute, totla cost $45.00
2. AdAware, good detection and removal ssystem, but is "hackable" by a "virus" in some spyweare that deletes its "Detection" files, although not considered to be a "true" virus, it does the same thing. Cost ZERO.
3. Pop-UP Cop, has been mentionee d at GT for awhile, most people say it wokrs great, but I haven't used ity so I can't comment, don't know the cost, so I won't go there.
About ZoneAlarmPro w/PestPatrol Bundle, PestPatrol is inlcuded for free in this "Bundle", you're really paying for ZA Pro, PestPatrol is the "Spyware/Adware" removal program and works great on my PC, ZA Pro version 3.x has a niufty featre that ZoneAlram (regular free version) doesn't have, there's an option to "Automatically Block Pop-up ads that don't load in 'X' amount of seconds", so you could say, if this ad doesn't laod in "2 seconds", block it, I find this useful for websites that bombard you with spyware, and after you block the ad, run PestPatrol and nuke the spyware. Hope this helps.
well, i downloaded pestpatrol from downloads.com
BUT i cannot delete files in the edition for some reason....is there anyway i can delete them w/o paying?

It depends, try this:
Under options where it has "Prompt, exclude, etc, etc.", check the box that says "Delete", ift hat doesn't work, the DAT file might be damaged, otherwise you might need to buy it, I got it for free with ZA Pro. The ting with PestPatrol is that it takes awhile to Delet all the Spyware.

Well Apu, depending on the type of Pop-up ad, PestPatrol might not detec anything, some aren't "embedded" with spyware, but tha's a rare oucrrance in pop-ups these days. If you just want to "kill" the pop-ups al-together, buy ZA Pro, which has a feature to "Block pop-ups that don't load iin "X" amount of seconds", then set the ZA Pro firewall to "Block" pop-ups that don'tr load in "1-second", if the Pop-up loads more quickly than 1 second, it's not that bad, if it doesn't, ZA Pro won't allow it to load, this is the only way to "Kill" pop-up ads that I know about, but it's not 100% perfect, nothing is. If you really hate pop-ups as much as I do, I'd find the sites that have the most of them, and go there less ofen with ZA Pro blocking all pop-ups and PestPatrol set to "Detect" everything it possibly can. Pop-ups are unfortnatly like telemarkers, they can be removed from your pc (with a blocking program), but they come back all at once with a vengenace. My advice is to find a firewall like the Afore mentioned ZA Pro, that "blocks" pop-ups and if that doesn't work, avoid some sites, it's unfoirtunatly a nessacry precaution if the ads get to be really bad. ALso be sure to update your Spyware removal program on a daily basis, the people wqho desing pop-ups love to destroy yourt "Blocking" porgrams.
