Dont worry, I wont give too much away. Let me just start off by saying GO SEE THIS MOVIE NOW. Im not easily impressed by movies(I didnt like lord of the rings), but this movie impressed me. Truly frightening. Its what you dont see thats scary. It was better than 6th sense, and unbreakable. (both directed by M. Night Shamalan). You will never look at corn fields the same way again. Peirod. Anyone else seen it? be sure to warn those who havent seen it of possible spoilers.

At first, I thought this movie was gonna be another steaming pile of horse poo. But I might actually see it now.

I am seeing this movie on Tuesday with some of my friends! It looks so good. I heard the director really captures the quietness and spookyness in the entire movie.

:p

Well when it comes to startling moments I just don't seem to get startled anymore... I mean sometimes I did... I think maybe I kinda jumped at one part of Signs, although I forgot which one :p

But I can almost always predict when something's gonna pop out... I guess it's cuz I've watched so many horror movies and played games like RE so much :D

As for me just saying stuff like "Yeah it was good"... I suck at rating movies... I like pretty much anything...

Guy: That movie rocked!

Me: Yeah it was good

then about another movie...

Guy: Man that movie blows!

Me: It was OK...

:p

So what do you think is the scariest movie you have seen? With all those horror movies.

Ginkasa

His name is Deathshand... If he's the hand of death than he wouldn't be easily scared....

*cough*

Uhhh...I guess...I thought he ripped that off of somebody though.

DeathsHand

My brother thought the name up, and I'm not really the hand of death ;)

But errmmm... I can't say which movie scared me the most... just cuz none of them really scared me that much :D

Sometimes I get scared by books though... Like Stephen King books... because I get to imagine things for myself, and it always ends up being my scarier than things in the Stephen King movies that I've seen... Pet Semetary, The Shining, Children of the Corn... a couple more...

Along with all 3 exorcist movies... 5 of the halloween movies... a couple friday the 13th movies... Amityville horror... and then a number of non-series movies... Yeah... Sixth Sense, What Lies Beneath... a lot mo... fo sho... Then horror movies that are considered horror, but don't even try to be scary... like Interview with the Vampire (Which you should all see or I'll kill you :D )

but I dunno which is scurriest...

I think I might have said this at Ndose.net (if you saw it), but even though the movies don't really scare me that much, for some reason it's like my fav. genre pretty much... I just like the whole feel of ze movies even if it doesn't scare me (^_^

By ze way, aren't we a bit off topic? :hmm:

Okay first off, this isnt your normal scary movie. Its like the Eternal Darkness of movies, in a sense. Your scared of what you dont see. Even when I know its coming, it still got my heart racing. That scene in the Cornfield was incredible, along with the birthday scene(my favorite in the movie), and the pantry scene, and of course the ending was great. This is not a movie about crop circle's. Not at all. Its so much more. This movie blows Unbrakable and Sixth sense away completly. Easily the best movie I have seen in 2 years, minimum. M. Night Shamalan is a god. WOOT!!!!

*Spoiler warning*

Just got back from the movie. It was pretty good. A lot more funny/sad/moving than scary. The end with the alien sort of didn't feel right, along with the hand that reached under the door before they ran into the basement. Both seemed very fake. Also if the alien was suppose to be so damn fast why didn't it move faster when it went up against the baseball bat, and the one in Brazil caught on hom camera? And the whole dying from water thing was so stupid. M. Night's not a bad actor though. Did his part pretty well.

Ginkasa

The books was just speculation from "alien experts", not known fact. Just because the book said they were fast doesn't mean they actually are.

SPOILER

Oh yea, that home camera thing was, I think, the scariest part of the movie...all the little kids going nuts, then they run to the window, and it creeps by...and the news reporter thats like ''these images may shock and disturb you'' and then they zoomed in on the alien, and the guy watching tv was just like in shock...that was awsome...I would pay 5 bucks just to see that one scene again...

Well, I finally saw it. I don't know why everybody was so scared in the movie! Everybody was jumping at the stupidest parts.. Oh well. I thought that it was a good movie... Too much little humour, IMO. I really liked the aliens, but I wish that there would have been more scenes with them. And that "home video" was crap, IMO. It wasn't scary at all. About everybody in the theatre jumped, but I laughed because it looked like Yao Ming. :)

Overall, great movie. 4.5 outa 5.

aw comeon Joeiss...that home movie thing was kinda scary...and just cool the way it was done...obviously it wasnt really an amutuer cameraman, so they had to make it look like it was just an average guy taking the shot...and it was just really well done, IMO...

DeathsHand

I thought the amature thing was well done too

Not necesarily scary, but it looked like an amature video of an alien thing heh heh... I bet people who think it was stupid are just like "Heh that'd never happen" or something ;)

Joeiss
08-07-2002, 01:28 PM
I meant that the home video was crap, as in not scary. :p Everybody got so scared when that alien walked by. I thought it was cool, but not scary at all. And I was looking behind the car, in the shadows on the door. I thought it was going to pop out of there... But it didn't..

Hmm...the movie was pretty good up until the end. First of all, I don't think you ever should of seen the aliens, I feel if that had been avoided, it would have been better overall. Secondly, I liked the idea of all these coincidences in the end for each of the people, but some of them seemed too coincidency (if that's a word. ) And the water killing the aliens has way too many plot-holes...I mean, the aliens were all over the world right? And it's raining somewhere in the world at every moment, so basically the aliens are fu**ed if water or rain hurts them. The aliens then made a pretty weak choice in coming to Earth where there it is like 80% water or whatever. But, overall it was a well done and worthwhile movie.

It will probably take 3 months before it's out here. We still don't have Minority Report here, no Resident Evil yet (DLed it), and Spiderman just came out one month ago. Bleh. :(

8-legged freaks comes out this thursday, is it good? 'from the makers of Independence Day and Godzilla'.... can't be too good.

I thought that it was hillarious that somebody actually made a movie about mutated spiders. Sad excuse for a movie, if you ask me. (I'm talking about 8 Legged Freaks)

Sounds like me. I love going to "scary" movies and making fun of the "scary" things. The best is to yell after everybody yells, so people look at you funny.

Haha... Or a super soaker, for fashion's sake. Their ain't nothing like carrying a big old super soaker on your wedding day in fear of an alien atack.

I was actually a lot more freaked from that caving story since it was never resolved exactly what it was. The happy ending of the movie destroyed the usual paranoidiness I would be having. Though I have been drinking a lot of water recently.

I just saw the movie this morning/afternoon. Reall good movie. It just clicked on so many levels. I don't think it was all that scary it had it's um "attemtped jumping moments" but thatt was about it.

I just always wonder why folks are well so dumb in movies. The man tells him not to go in his Pantry. What does he do? Go to the pantry. He tells him they don't like water, his family doesn't listen. I just don't know what the movie. Even if it questions a whole lot more than the existance of aliens.

Did anyone else find it funny that he plugged out the TV right before they were gonna tell you how the other folks killed or injured the aliens?

Didn't the reporter say that some people from a few small towns "figured out a primitive way of defeating the aliens, but the details are still not know"... or something like that....
