Sony leaves in war against Mario
(7/09/02 to 08:12, by Vomiaouaf )

Super Mario Sunshine is clearly one of the largest hopes of Nintendo to raise the sales of Gamecube in Japan. In the center of their policy of Game Giants, Mario will unload in less than 10 days to the country of the Raising Sun.
To counter this arrival, Sony will set up a campaign marketing of 1 billion Yen (8,5 million Euros), which will begin on July 18 with the arrival of a limited series of Playstation 2 transparent and blue.

August 1, it is the black version which will unload in the rays. The suitable levers and accessories will be obviously available, history to mark the blow well. Sony expects that these consoles run out with 500 000 specimens.

Still remain to know if all this organization marketing will be able to on thwart the large chart cut down by Nintendo July 19. One should be fixed before long on the exit of this combat of kings.

This is turning out like back when the PS2 launched here, only the other way around. On that day, Sony launched the PS2 in America and Nintendo brought out Majora's Mask. But now its Mario coming out and Sony releasing limited edition PS2's. But don't enough people in Japan have them already. I highly doubt people will be like, "I came in to buy Mario, but gosh! those PS2's look enticing. I better buy that!"

I dont see this as a big blow at all. If somebody wants Super Mario Sunshine, then they will get it. They arent going to change their mind and buy a console they cant even play SMS on for 3 times more money.

I highly doubt that these new PS2's will have a negative effect on the SMS and GCN sales. But I highly doubt that GCN will win the sales war in Japan against the PS2 the week that SMS is released.

They should have a game coming out on that date. Not a limited edittion console.

What game on the PS2 could make people think twice about SMS, if they already planned on buying SMS?

Yeah! But that would make much more sense than having a limited edition PS2. Maybe, they should have many games coming out that same date.
