Dunno how recent this is...

I do not want the players to have a false idea of a game. In a demo, the game is under development and never reflects really what you will feel with the final version of the game. It is thus so that the players do not have false ideas about a game which can still change and that I a m not favorable to the demonstrations.
*sigh* This is what happens you're a perfectionist afraid of rejection.
EDIT: GameFront.de says Japan is getting Demo Discs.
Nintendo plans to distribute demo versions from plays in Japan to. The Discs should be at the earliest starting from autumn free of charge in the business available. They are playable and are to contain no videos. "

Why not just include demo's from 3rd parties?!:mad2: Bah! I have finally found ONE way I don't like Miyamoto.:(

Yeah if he's so concerned, then 3rd party game demos and maybe trailers and footage of their 1st party games. Don't see how hard that is or why it would cost much to do so.

Why give a demo of a game, when you can just let people buy the full version for the full price?

Did you read Moyamoto's quote? He claims that : "in a demo, the game is under development and never reflects really what you will feel with the final version of the game."
So what good is a Nintendo demo if it is not anything like the game? Or, how will people know what the final product will be if they play a "reflection" of the final copy on a disk?
I don't know if your "unsure" smilie meant in your post... I am just assuming that it meant that you were not agreeing with me, and stating that demos are good. If I am wrong, then, well, ignore this post. ;)

A lot of demos are usually complete enough to reflect the final product well enough to have someone decide if they want to purchase it or not... look at the RE2 demo... the item placement is mixed around, you take a slightly different path through that area of the game in the final version, but you get to check out the gameplay mechanics (although it's the same as RE1 :p ), the enviornment, some of the enemies, one of the characters, and the demo sorta leaves you hanging cuz it ends with some MYSTERIOUS FIGURE shooting at you so you might be like "Whoa dude I wanna play the full game"...
If you release demos when games are like 30% done, then they won't reflect what games are like... and that's probably what Nintendo would do...
Guy1: "Hey the game is 80% complete!"
Guy2: "Ok, well release some screenshots from the build that was 40% complete just for... I dunno but just do it!"
:D
Havn't you ever gotten a demo disk on like PS2 or PSX? Sometimes the games are already out when the demo is released I think... they're still demos... the game is 100% complete, and now you can sort of test it along with other games and see if you wanna buy it :p

Good points. Yeah, I was kind of thinking along the lines that about demo disks that include games taht are 30-40% complete. And that is so Nintendo, too. Hmm, SMS is almost done, but lets release some screenshots from last year for no apparent reason. :D Oh well, that is Nintendo for ya.
And, I guess Moyamoto was not thinking about complete games as well. But again, Nintendo is Nintendo. They know that most of their first party games will sell millions of copies, so why waste time creating a demo of it? I can see of demo disks can spark interest in a game for some people, but with Nintendo's popularity and huge franchises, one must think if it is really worth it.

I'd like to have a disc with demos of all the launch games for exaple. They're finished...
And Joeiss you said something like 'why give them a free demo if they can buy the full game?' Well if the demo doesn't reflect the final product, then people are going to get the final game anyway. Right?

Demos help a lot of people who are unsure about a game. I have no idea why Nintendo wouldn't want to put demos out for new ideas that people don't know too much about. If they released a lot more demos for, lets say, Pikmin before it was released, who knows how much it could have boosted sales.
Miyamoto is a little woman. :bonk: Stupid Miyamoto.
