OXM: Nudity in DOA3 Volleyball & Dave Mirra XXX

Taken from Issue # 9 of the Official Xbox Magazine:

It seems that nudity is sneaking its way onto the Xbox. Tecmo's DOA3 Extreme Volleyball, features bikini-clad girl fighters bouncing about like never before in gorgeous DOA3-style environments. Even more stunning is a hint Tecmo dropped - that there may be topless modes later in the game.

Acclaim announced a shocker of its own with Dave Mirra BMX XXX. The game enables players to extensively customize female riders in respects to their breast size and whether they have tops at all. Additionally, one of the rewards for completing gameplay objectives is actually having the coin to go to Scores (the strip joint) and getting to watch real cut-scenes of strippers. Acclaim told us that they contacted the ESRB (purveyors of the rating system) on what would hypothetically be allowed in a Mature-rated game. Under those guidelines, they've reverse engineered Dave Mirra BMX XXX and plan to blaze new trails in toplessness, scatolgy, and swearing.
Why it's important: Games are growing up... but not necessarily maturing.
The Official Xbox Magazine take: Moms everywhere are thankful that the Xbox has parental controls. Teens everywhere are thankful Mom can't work the Xbox parental controls.

Dave Mirra XXX is coming to all consoles, Dead or Alive 3 Volleyball is Xbox exclusive. But I'm not sure who would want to play any of these games...

The games sound like crap, all of them.

Mirra - From the looks of the videos, this game did was Mirra 2 did not, made a good BMX game. But by throwing in nudity, you lost the core BMX fanbase, the teenagers. See, mommy goes to buy Mirra 3, but sees Mirra XXX. Mommy was a little slut when she was younger, knows what XXX is. Considering State of Emergency came with a chick ID sticker, Mirra XXX might as well just make the sticker the boxart. "DVD-quality footage of real strippers taking it all off... uncensored!" There there Billy, you're 13, all grown up, i think you can handle it. Ya... right :rolleyes: "Mom! Can we go back, my controller's all sticky!" Nudity in this game has no purpose, at all.

DOA - This didn't look like that great of a volleyball game to start, but I'd be willing to play it. But now they throw in nudity, which makes it seem like they have plans besides making a good volleyball game. And nudity doesn't fit in the game at all, so why bother?

There are some games where nudity might actually work out, like in the strip club in GTA3, or even have thong matches in wrestling games. Hell, Outlaw Golf has a stripper in it. But still, we don't need FMV footage of real strippers, and I don't play games for polygonal porn, I play them because I want to play a game. I mean, that's why we have the internet, for porn. And most people would rather whack it to NAtalie Portman, and all those lovely pornstars out there, than polygonal DOA3 girls.

"Mature" gamers really haven't matured. Ya think? That's because the "Mature gamer" crowd is mainly 13-18, still high school kids. But it doesn't really sound like the DOA3 developers have matured too much either, not have the Mirra XXX guys.
