I didn't really like The Matrix that much... But I liked Minority Report... So for me, it was more Uber than The Matrix :p

But for people who are like "WHOA DUDE THE MATRIX R0X YOUR MUDDAH for some reason..." then you might not like it as much as The Matrix :D

I want to see this movie as soon as I can. I've been avoided previews this whole week, because I didnt want to ruin it. I wanted to see it this weekend, but my friends were busy so I'll probably see it with my family, or wait until Monday.

Speaking of reviews...

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/MinorityReport-1113879/

only 5 bad reviews out of 113... :D

Them be some pretty good reviews...

100% good reviews from the major publications...

Not that reviews matter... I would have seen it if it got bad reviews... I thought it looked cool when I first saw a trailer thing :p

I think I might go see it.. and everyone else needs to stop using the word UBER!

uber™ of bluefire :p

The_Dunadan
06-22-2002, 10:41 AM
um...you guys aren't using uber right:unsure: its a prefix. it goes before words, like uberhacker or ubermovie. not like...d00dz, thats totally UBER, w00t!!! not like that. its definately not a trademark of BF either. but maybe you already knew that. *shrugs*

uber™ is a trademark of bluefire.. so get lost.

:offtopic:

Anyways.. anyone else see this movie?

Neo

"uber" is a German word, and since I know German that means that I'm the one who gets to use it. :sneaky:

And yes, The Matrix owns DH's muddah. Yours too, for that matter.

A.I. was a good movie, underrated...

Bond, don't ever use A.I. and good in the same sentence again, or I'll be forced to kill you. ;)

That movie sucked more ass than Richard Simmons, IMO.

Happydude

I agree with shooter....dont ever use A.I. and the word "good" in the same sentence without the aord "not" in between'em.

I thought A.I. was a very good movie.... strange.... but good....

I just came back from seeing Minority Report and I loved it. Might see it again if I'm going to see a movie again and one of the movies I've wanted to see haven't been released...

Er... A.I was a fantastic movie. That is why I expect Minority Report to be atleast as good.

honestly i think that steven spielberg is losing his touch...i mean minority report wuz pretty good but A.I. sucked like hell....i mean i think that it had even less of a point than the demented cartoon movie that happydude posted up

When will Spielberg's next historic movie come out? Something like Amistad (good movie) and Schindler's List (great movie).

It all started with The Lost World... :distress:

Shadow_Link

May I ask why you think Spielberg is losing his touch? From the looks of A.I, he is maturing into a better director.

Angrist

Ehm....

Everybody says that AI was dissapointing. Other movies were generally considered GREAT. So... there's gotta be something wrong with AI, right?

Shadow_Link
06-24-2002, 10:58 AM
Not really... 95% of the film critics in the world can't analyse a film to save their lives. When I look at A.I, I see a brilliantly made film.

Then again, we are all different. Just because someone doesn't like the film, it doesn't mean it is a bad film.

The Lost World wasnt THAT bad...better than AI, in my opinion.

IMO, AI was his worst movie...it made no sence what-se-ever to me...like for example, how did the robot not rust up or anything...or how could it have "emotions"...like love...and...umm...stuff...in other words...AI sucked....but then again thats only what me and most other GTers think...:p

The_Dunadan
06-24-2002, 11:55 AM
you guys are saying spielberg is losing his touch because his last movie got so so reviews?! keep in mind it was stanley kubricks project that steven spielberg was just directing. i just saw minority report and the man isn't losing his touch.

i think the next movie he starts filming is catch me if you can. tom hanks is in this one.

Oh, and I guess Matrix is a sh*t film because... "Geez, I don't get how that guy can slow down time...".

Will people ever learn? Most movies are not directed to depict reality. If everyone thought that way, then LoTR was a crap film, and so was Alien, and... (You get the picture...).

Again, if you don't like the film, that's fine, it's an opinion, but a good film is a good film, and a bad film is a bad film.

hmmm.... i learned this in english class...
willing suspension of disbeleif or somethin like that.. you cant enjoy a movie unless you make yourself beleive whats happening could actually happen.. or somethin like that.

Like in mission impossible 2 if you can beleive that 2 guys can jump of motorcycles going 70 mph and collide in mid air without breaking anything and then still be able to have a 20 minute fight then you could enjoy the movie.. i dunno.. i cant explain it..

Yeah exactly... I hate it when someone doesn't like a movie just because something "Isn't possible" when it's not necesarily supposed to be possible..... just entertaining :p

Minority Report twas an uber-movie. I like the fact that the previews don't give away much which made the movie that much better.

I thought A.I. was ok except for the ending (those aliens looked slightly familiar). It made a great homage to Pinocchio though...

I saw Minority Report yesterday!!! :D And it was indeed UBER!!
Great movie! A little less action than expected and a little more story, which is good!!

It surprised me that it also had some scary moments in it! Like when Agatha suddenly clamps onto John! Freaky!!
What are they called again? Precogs?

Movie of the year IMO. TTT can't beat this, no way. Sorry Tolkien fans (including me). :)

Jesus, this thread is so old. Anyway, yeah, I've seen Minority Report. It was pretty good, I guess. At least it was much better than I thought it would be from those ridiculously overblown commercials (This Sunday, EVERY.....BODY.....RUNS!!!!!). I don't really like giving out stars or anything, but I guess I'd give this movie 3/4. Basically, what that means is that it was a highly enjoyable movie that that I plan on never watching again ever.

By the way, Minority was much better than A.I. Not to say that I completely hated A.I. I thought that it was a decent idea (Pinokio played out with robots....um, right) that was just done wrong. The movie would have been great if it focused on it's saving grace, Gigolo Joe (Obviously a character made up by Stanly Kubric). Getting back to Minority Report, the only complaints I had with it were that there were a bit too many special effects (I know that it's a Sci-Fi film and all, but I loathe special effects) and that, at times, it was a little too warm hearted. That's fine with a movie like E.T., but it really didn't fit the overall tone of this film. I still liked it, though.

You dont like special effects, then go watch Signs, great film.

The special effects were cool... they gave an interesting view of teh future.

I liked that the movie was a bit sentimental. Like how Agatha keeps dreaming how her mother was murdered and everybody thinks it's just an echo. Then she's trying to show John... :)

I saw Signs, actually. It was alright. I wouldn't call it great, though. What I did like about it was that it didn't focus on the aliens too much, and was instead one of those "ordinary people caught in extraordinary situations" type movies (sure it isn't original, but who cares?). Really, Signs was as much about aliens and crop symbols as Night of the Living Dead was about zombies. Had they gone about it differently, it would have just been like Independence Day. I didn't really care for the movie's whole theme of "nothing happens by chance and everything has a purpose", however. But, hey, it's just nice that it had a theme. I still think that Unbreakable is M. Night Shamalan's only great film. Maybe it's just me, though

Didnt unbreakable get mostly crappy reviews? The reviews for Signs were kinda mixed, I know ebert and Roper both liked it, but some idiot people didnt...Im pretty sure the 6th sense got mostly good reviews...but I think signs is his best film by far...and what do those idiot movie review people know anyways?

Doctor Zhivago
10-07-2002, 06:46 PM
Yeah, a lot of people didn't care for Unbreakable. Even though I enjoyed it, I can kinda see why. People have trouble taking "superhero" movies seriously. Though in a sense, Unbreakable is more of an anti-superhero movie than anything else (I won't go into the plot or anything). It was well written and well directed, in my opinion, and is certainly one of the more original movies to come around in a while. M. Night Shamalan's other films were...meh. By the way, why do you call people whose opinions differ from your's idiots? You must sure think a lot of yourself.
