yaaay...

It's not much, but it's still interesting... to me, at least :p

Ok so the background for the character is nothing special... no daughter gone missing... no letter from dead wife... she's just in town shopping and "she gets trapped in an unusual situation, and that's where the story begins."...

And as for the subway... they say that it's seperate from Silent Hill... sort of...

IGN: So is that a separate place entirely, or...?

Nakazawa: (hesitating) Well...yes and no. You can learn about that a little more later on.

The guy says he thinks that this SH game will be the scariest of them all... and check this out... they were shown a little demo of the game (seperate from the trailer)...

The demo shown is a small bathroom, with Heather standing in the middle of it. The walls and other objects in the room (a bathtub, for example), are overlaid with a second texture layer resembling blood vessels, like a microscopic view of capillaries under your skin. The effect is very well-matched to the resolution of the other textures in the environment, and gives a striking impression of blood coursing through the walls around you. Very creepy.

They say the effect is to give you the feeling that you've actually been like swallowed by the town... or something...

And they say that so far they've only got 2 textures on things, but that it's still a "very light load on the processor"... and by the time of release they could possibly get more in some areas... "So you could be fighting against a monster in this situation, with different layers on different objects."

And it sounds like the game will spend a lot more time in the alternate world...

In Silent Hill 3, there is no situation of finding someone who's lost. Heather is just an ordinary person. One day, all of a sudden, she's just trapped into a strange place. Her motivation is just to survive, to get out of the alternate world.

I wonder how the story for that will work... it better still be confusing and complex like SH1 and 2's (well, SH2's was kinda confusing and complex when it came to little details about the town)... Maybe she has some kind of unknown connection to the town...

And just the last thing I'll mention is that like... I always thought that the games were linked just by the town, y'know... Like they all take place in the town, and you kinda learn more about the history each time... but apparently something else will link the games together, too... but he didn't say what, of course... I wonder what it could be... Dhalia Gellespi? Allessa? Samael or some other weird god things?

I can't wait for SH3 :D

Well the genre is survival horror, y'know... a big point of all those games is to just survive :p Like you go to the place for one reason or another, something happens, and you gotta SURVIVE THE HORROR! :D

But knowing the SH games, there's gotta be more to the game than just surviving... I mean maybe the main thing will just be getting out, but there will be other characters in the game... there's gotta be like something she finds out, or something that happens that takes the game on a Silent Hill-ish freak strange route, y'know?

The story doesn't seem like it can have multiple nedings(What has been shown so far). Anyway, I'm sure they'll find a way to fix that. Also, I saw some pics and the main character has what I like to call an "Alcoholic belly":D It looks like she's pregnant. Maybe that has to do something with the story. Just speculating here.
Nakazawa: In short, I would say that Silent Hill 3 will be the scariest of the series. There are some team members who've been working through all three games, and those people have been frustrated at their inability to do some of the things they wanted to in the earlier games -- some of their really scary ideas as far as images and scenario. So we have some lessons from our past experience, and by incorporating those lessons, we hope to make this game very scary. Awesome, Heck the second one was damn scary. I can't wait to see what new scary/odd things they have planned.

IGN: Perhaps a more general question -- what do you think is scary? What scares you, and what kind of things do you want to use to scare players? Nakazawa: Well, it's easy to make an "easy" story, something that's easy to understand. What you don't know is what can be really scary, though. That's why we try not to explain so much of the story in the game -- I'll leave it at that
Exactly what sometimes scares me about the game.

Owaku: So we concentrated more on working on that alternate world -- more of the game takes place there. Awesome! Just what I wanted.

Q2 2003... that's what videogames.com says...

Anyways... more time in the alternate world... yes, that's what I wanted too :D

I just hope it's not TOO much in the alternate world... cuz the alternate world is awesome, but it's also very like... too much of the same... looking... heh heh it's all reddish/orange looking with like metal grating as floors and stuff... So they kinda need a good balance... SH1 is a good example, I guess (Well, it wouldn't hurt for a little more time there than in SH1)... SH2 didn't spend enough time there... But like if 90% or something of the game is spent there, it could give the game a bland boring look... And that's not a deal with graphical power or whatever, just variety in enviornments :p

And I'm sure there will be multiple endings... like... every Survival horror game ever has had multiple endings... especially SH... Not only does it have multiple endings, but it has like the most variety in endings, too... At least Sh2 did...

But I can't wait to see the freaky things they can do with the alternate world... I hope they bring back those bodies and crap hanging all over the place... Imagine if you're like walking down a dark hallway in the alternate world and like there are bodies on the walls in those metal things, and all of a sudden some of them start twitching or letting out these really freaky moans and cries and crap and the area gets kind of a reddish tint to it and the camera gets a little blurry and you don't know what the hell is going on... And then something neat happens :p

I can't wait for SH3 :D Wow that sounds like a good idea (the story).

I like the idea of the person being "swallowed" by SH. Man can't wait for this one.

I'm sure it's gonna be confusing (the story). It's good coz then you go to www.gamefaqs.com after you finish it and find out what the hell you played haha!

That was so damn good when I finished SH2, didn't understand ANYTHING about the story. Then I d/l the faq for story and nearly everything made sense.

That's one thing I love about Silent Hill... it's so confusing and stuff... you're playing the game and it's like what the fedge is going on here? And that's what makes it sorta creepy... you don't really know exactly what's going on... they hide all the details so well in like the stories and paintings and you gotta like look at all the stuff and put it all together... but instead of doing that, I just like to go to gamefaqs and read... :D Like I can put some things together... I mean it's pretty obvious the main story of James... but little details... why Maria keeps dying, what exactly the Pyramid heads are, etc etc... more details about the history that I passed over... good ****... :D
