Inside scoop (not really): Philbin's (Packers offensive coordinator) son was found dead in the Fox River a day or two ago. Packers will dedicate game to him.

Wahhhht? Cause of death?

Bond
01-10-2012, 10:14 PM
I'd assume he drowned to death. The river is currently frozen, so the ice must have cracked, he fell in, and then drowned. Really a horrible way to die if that's in fact what happened.

Man, I got fucked sideways by the Broncos and the 49ers. I also gambled on the Giants...I really thought the "bad Giants" were going to show up...

Watching the Patriots destroy the Broncos is surprisingly...cathartic. And while I'm upset that the Saints lost, that was probably the most intense and exciting 4th Quarter I have seen in a playoff football game in a looooong time.

Anyone thinking the Giants-Packers game will be close tomorrow? And if the Packers do win, they will have to square off the very decent 49er's secondary.

Ohhh shiiiiit.

The Saints and Packers are out...the only offense-only, no defense team left is the Patriots. And their defense stepped it up big time last night.

I don't know who to root for anymore? Go Giants?

Actually...I know exactly what I want to see. Giants vs. Pats rematch.

Hell no, I don't want to see that rematch. I think I'm going to have to route for the 49ers. I hate the Ravens and I hate the Giants. I guess it's Patriots and 49ers for me, which still sucks due to the Patriots having been to so many Super Bowls lately.

How about a Ravens vs. 49er Super Bowl with a Harbaugh showdown?

manasecret

Texans had a great run this year. They could have easily won that game against the Ravens -- our defense POUNDED Flacco, our offensive line allowed 0 sacks, and Foster played masterfully. But alas getting down to our third string, rookie quarterback finally caught up with us with too many jump ball passes to Andre that never should have been made. Add in Jacoby Jones' stupid stupid stupid fubar fumble on a punt return, and it's a wonder we were even in the game.

Great year Texans. Can't wait 'til next year.

Here's who I want to win, in order of preference:

49ers
Patriots
Ravens
Giants

The company I work for is headquartered in San Fran, so I feel a bit of attachment to them.

I really just don't like the Giants - never been a fan of any NY teams. They win too much and seem to have a lot of fans just because it's New York.

I'm pumped for the 49ers. I finally have a reason to throw on my Rice jersey.

I know I totally cheated as a fan, because I'd given up on them for the last 7-8 years, and the beginning of this year just happened to be when I started getting into them again (at my brothers request) - but they've always been my favourite team.

Goddamn Fumbles.

Vampyr
01-23-2012, 10:28 AM
Always surprised by fumbles like that. If your main job is to hold onto that football you'd think a guy tapping it with his hand would not cause you to drop it.

Well, I'm rooting for the Patriots now.

The Germanator
01-23-2012, 12:33 PM
Yeah, can't believe I'm forced to root for the Patriots, but here we are. If the Giants win another Super Bowl while the Eagles still have none...that's just a kick to my groin. Not like the Patriots winning another is much better. Basically, this was the last game that I wanted, but of course I'll still watch it.

BreakABone
01-23-2012, 03:25 PM
So what all is our beef with the Giants? :(

Always surprised by fumbles like that. If your main job is to hold onto that football you'd think a guy tapping it with his hand would not cause you to drop it.

That was my first thought, too. You're making how many millions (or hundreds of thousands) of dollars to carry some sewn leather across an open grass field- and your only real job is to make sure you - under any circumstance - do not let go of that ball. And he let go of the ball.

But on the other end the other guy is probably making roughly the same amount of money to ensure that the other guy does drop the ball. So then I immediately realized that point is moot.:lolz:

Anyways, I'm pretty choked that the 49ers lost. And to be honest, I really don't give a shit who wins anymore. I don't like either teams. So I'll flip a coin and that's who I'll go for.
The coin chooses the Patriots.
Even money doesn't like the Giants.

KillerGremlin
01-23-2012, 04:37 PM
Fumbles happen, especially when the ball gets whacked out of your hand.

When you are a field goal kicker and you get paid millions of dollars to make clutch kicks...you should be able to hit clutch kicks. However, it looks like the field goal was rushed in the Ravens game, and Harbaugh didn't use his time out to set things up. Cundiff will have to live with that missed kick forever...

Kyle William's fumble is nowhere near as bad as his knee touching the ball. That was a boneheaded, dumbass move. When someone punches the ball out of your hand you cannot control the situation. When you have a wild football flying your way in slippery, rainy conditions, you are coached to move out of the way and stay away from the ball.

The knee play was IMO the momentum-changer that set the Giants on course to win that game. That's the type of boneheaded dumbassery that will get you chewed out by your coach and team. Cundiff missed a kick which happens (albeit I think we should pay these guys based on their successes....), but Williams had NO business being near that ball.

Here is the good news (Typhoid, you should be happy): The 49ers look solid. I'm sure they will be around for a while. My only question is, will Alex Smith be that franchise's future? He laid an egg last night....the lack of 3rd downs was a big reason why I think they lost.

Giants vs. Patriots should be interesting. I hope it becomes a shoot out.

Really?
I was hoping some disgruntled fan would have stuffed some C4 inside of that ball during that Hail Mary, and when Brady tossed it down to the endzone, and just before the ball gets close to that big group of players in the endzone, Tom Brady has a heart attack and dies.

Germy hates the Giants, just as I do. And that's obviously due to them being Philly's rivals. Sure we hate the Cowboys above all, but the Giants are the Eagles clear rivals in the NFL. That's why we were rooting for the Patriots, as much as that sucks too.
