I know comic threads go over so well on these forums, but I thought this idea for Marvel's next major crossover was so basic and appealing that it was worth giving it a shot!

This April, The Avengers and the X-Men—the two most popular franchises in comics history—go to war! Marvel is proud to announce AVENGERS VS X-MEN, a landmark 12-issue pop culture event bringing together the world’s greatest super heroes—Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Magneto and more—for an unforgettable battle beginning in April 2012.

It's been what, less than a month since the last event? Fear Itself failed spectacularly. Plus I can never muster the energy to read more than a couple issues of either team book (as many as there are of each to choose from). Pass.

Why is the hulk red? And where is emma frosts trademark cleavage. And since when was magneto part of the x-men?

Red Hulk is Thunderbolt Ross, the general that was always chasing Hulk. I refuse to read the book because when he's human he has a glorious mustache which somehow disappears when he transforms.

At least they're not being pretentious about the name. It is what they say it is.

Here is my plot synopsis: "Hey, we both have justifiable stances on a contentious issue. Instead of engaging in reasonable discussion, let's punch each other in the face! *someone dies* Oh God! What have we done? It's all [insert obvious villain] fault! Get him! *defeat villain* Yay! No! Dude's dead, asshole! *ham-fisted message followed by pathos*

I never like any of these "Versus" type comics. The stories always feel really contrived.

Yeah, which is why I hope Marvel keeps it simple, and doesn't bog it down a message like Civil War.

In the picture, whos that guy behind Wolverine? Spock? Is he going to vulcan nerve pinch the hulk, cause that would be awesome.

Namor the Sub-Mariner. One of the very first superheroes. He's like Aquaman except he can fly...I think. Never saw him so dressed up.
