I'm not sure how many baseball fans we have anymore, but it should be a great postseason to watch!

PHILLIES!!! (obviously)

It was painful to watch this squad lose 8 in a row after winning 98, but after pounding the Mets today with Halladay going 6 scoreless with our full lineup, I still feel good about the Phils.

I think it will be Brewers-Phillies NLCS in a tough match-up. Phillies pitching pushes them over the top though.

Also, I'm about a million times more excited for the Phillies right now after the Eagles just screwed the moose against the Giants. The Phillies have come a long way in this franchise's history!

Phillies are so good. Your pitching rotation is ridiculous!

I agree on Brewers/Phillies NLCS ... also agree that you guys have the clear edge.

I'm rooting for the phillies also. Lee and Doc deserve it so badly.

You lose Prince Fielder next year! Not the best prize but take what you can get.

Hate the Phillies. Cardinals are 1 game back of Atlanta with 3 games to play. But losing 4 to 1 currently. I am hopeful they can sneak in.

That has to be one of the best last days in MLB history! And it has nothing to do with the fact that the Phillies won a franchise record 102 games. Now the Phillies get the Cardinals, a team I really didn't think would be in it. Very interesting.

Prediction: Tampa Bay in 5

NLDS

St. Louis Cardinals v. Philadelphia Phillies

Prediction: Cardinals in 5

Arizona Diamondbacks v. Milwaukee Brewers

It will be tough for the Cardinals to beat Philly, but they did just take 3 out of 4 from them in Philadelphia like 2 weeks ago so anything is possible. And the cardinals are hot right now. Not sure why it took them until September to play up to their potential, but better late then never.

Oops, I'm kind of late on this one, but this is what I had before the playoffs started.

NLDS:

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Phillies

Phillies in 4

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Milwaukee Brewers

Brewers in 5

ALDS:

Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees

Yankees in 4

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Texas Rangers

Rangers in 5

The lead in to the playoffs was amazing. Boston and Tampa were tied going into the last game of the season, as were St. Louis and Atlanta.

So Tampa was down 7-0 and climbed back to make it 7-6 in the bottom of the 8th, and then got a solo shot in the bottom of the 9th with two outs to go to tie it up, and eventually won it with a home run from Longoria in extra innings. Just about a minute before the game winning home run, Boston gave up a 3-2 lead to the Orioles in the bottom of the 9th with two outs to complete their collapse.

St. Louis won their game clean, 8-0 I believe, which meant that Atlanta had to win just to get to the tiebreaker game. They were winning 3-2 in the top of the 9th when the Phillies tied it up. It went to the 13th where the Phillies took a 4-3 lead and won the game, knocking the Braves out.

What was also amazing during this day was that the 2nd and 3rd seed teams in each league were only a game apart, meaning that either team could get either spot. It was a pretty monumental day in MLB.

As Germy was saying, the Phillies did win a franchise record 102 wins this season by beating the Braves on the last day. It was also Charlie Manual's 646th win with the Phillies, which put him in first place all time in wins for manager of the Phillies. So this was a special year for Philadelphia in that respect.

Hey Jason, do you hate the Phillies because they've been winning for 5 years now and you'd like to see another team win for a change, or is this just something you've always felt?

Great comeback by the Phillies last night. Brewers looked solid in their win over the Diamondbacks.

I didn't watch either of the ALDS games, but it seems like this will be a very competitive first round.

Im not really sure actually. It is partly because they win all the time, but there's something more to it than just that...I just cant figure out what exactly.:ohreilly:

Aren't Philadelphia teams (perhaps more-so fans) generally disdained by most other sports fans? I don't have an issue with any of the teams, but that's the feeling I've gotten from following sports for a while.

Honestly it's only because I'm a Jays fan, and that caused me to really want Halladay to get a championship. I don't care on what team. Dude deserves it.

Halladay became Carpenter and then became another Jays superstar pitcher. I expected him to be traded a season earlier than when he left.

You know what! we should plan a trip to seattle over the summer to watch Suzuki and the Jays! I really wanted to this august but work wouldn't allow.

Very exciting to see the Brewers go for the potential sweep tonight.

Looks like the Rangers are beginning to pull away from the Rays, with the other two series still in flux.

I would like to add, however, that Josh Collmenter, of the Diamondbacks, has one of the most fucked up deliveries I have ever seen.

Ha, maybe we shouldn't have beaten the Braves then. They're being ridiculous though, struggling to hit again. I just don't get it. If I was any other team, I wouldn't be afraid of their lineup.

We haven't won a postseason series since 1982.

1-0.

That's about as bad as it could have been as a Phillies fan. Not much to say. They lost. Wish they would've played the D-backs, but they didn't. I think Cliff Lee blowing that 4-0 lead in game 2 was really it. Phils go up 2-0? Doubt they lose that series.

That said, going down 1-0 with 27 outs to go tonight and getting nothing is just bad news. Oh well, on to root for a disappointing NFL team.

At least the NHL squad is 1-0 after beating the Stanley Cup champ Bruins!!!

Would anyone else like to see the NLCS & ALCS go to five games instead of seven? I realize this would mean the Brewers would already be out, but seven game series are so long. It's just an unrealistic expectation for a fan to follow all seven games.

Not for me. If anything, I'd rather even have the NLDS be 7 games. With the Phillies pitching depth, that would've helped them. You play almost every day for 162 games, a 7 game series isn't all that long in those terms.

I believe there are actually a couple of Dutch players in the MLB. European prospects have been gaining momentum in recent years.

Also...Gotta go with the Rangers just because they've never won a World Series. Plus, LaRussa bugs me.

The Rangers are going to be at a dis-advantage with their pitchers having to hit in the World Series. Im thinking the Cardinals will become world Champions for the 11th time in 2011!

Shit, I know baseball ain't what it used to be but this is one of the most exciting (and historic) World Series games in the past [insert large number here] years.

Seriously, Game 6 was nuts tonight. I caught the last 3 innings. And the game with Pujols hitting 3 home runs, I saw that. I keep turning on the game when good stuff is happening (and I bounced to the World Series when the Saints were up 40+ on the Colts  ).
