How much experience have you guys had with the Megami Tensei series?
I say Megami Tensei because yes, there were games on the NES before Shin Megami Tensei started up on the SNES. SMT on the SNES was my first experience with the series thanks to emulators, although I might be wrong because I may have played Persona 2 on the PSX (not knowing it was a spin-off of the SMT series).
I've heard great things about Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 but I have yet to experience them. I'm considering purchasing the original copy of Persona 2: Innocent Sin from Japan since the game was fully translated and the port of the game for the PSP is still going to be censored both here and in Japan.
I only bring this up because I got SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked for the 3DS yesterday and I'm quite pleased with it. It takes the demon collecting aspect of the game and makes it a lot easier to wrap your head around, which was one of my issues with the gameplay in the original SMT and Persona, since you need to "talk" to the demons and they respond a certain way and stuff. As a 3DS game though it's kind of a shameless port. There's more demons you can collect and an additional 8th day along with voice-overs but there's no actual 3D to be had in the game aside from the opening video before the title screen. All the action happens on the bottom screen and the top screen is used for enemy and player data.
I know Nocturne is another spin-off series thing but I literally know nothing about it, unless someone wants to chime in on that if they've got some experience.
So yeah, talk it up if you guys have anything to say about them!
