Was saving this thread for a rainy day. We're responding to 9-year-old posts now. That's pretty rainy.

I'm curious as to why some people don't like mayo (I remember Germy not liking mayo....why is that something I remember? WHY?!) and folks from Chicago act like a bottle of ketchup raped them as a child.

So, what do you like to drown your food in?

I used to be all about adding a lot of condiments to everything, but I learned that ketchup can be pretty over-powering so I try to take it easy.

That being said, I love me some barbecue sauce, tartar sauce, and honey mustard.

Ketchup, relish, dijon mustard, whole grain mustard, polish/german style mustard. I love ketchup, but you need to be careful about overdoing it. Most people who hate ketchup likely abused it as a child.

I am picky about mustard. Yellow mustard is the equivalent of bleaching your mouth.

I've warmed up to mayo a tiny bit. The thing is, I'm completely fine with the ingredients that go into making mayo, but I find the end result to not be as appetizing. That said, a BLT or Tuna fish sandwich would be nothing without mayo, but if I'm ordering a sub sandwich, I'll always get oil instead..

As for stuff I like... Have really gotten into whole grain mustard. There's a red pepper spread that we get on our sub sandwiches here that's amazing. I've gotten super into horseradish as well, whether in a sauce or not. Relish is good as long as it isn't too sweet.

I barely use ketchup anymore. I find that barbeque sauce is usually a superior thing to use in place where I'd use ketchup. I'll also put salsa on a lot of things. Frank's hot sauce goes on a lot of what I eat as well. And of course Sriracha (rooster sauce) goes on anything Asian oriented...

Barbecue sauce.

This.

I also like mayo on my sandwiches, but I curse each and every person/place that puts it on my burgers by default.

I also love Subway's sweet onion sauce.

Sweet Baby Rays. What more could you need? I put that shit on everything.

I enjoy ketchup on a legit Chicago Style hotdog, and mustard is great on things like brats. But Sweet Baby Rays is the next best thing to real, homemade BBQ. Can't top that stuff.

Mayo isn't really a condiment in my book, btw. It is kind of a necessity, providing some fat and texture to dishes that would otherwise suffer without it. Mayo, like butter, serves as a fundamental staple in culinary. Unless you dip your fries in mayo...I've seen people do that...weird.

I'm also all for sauerkraut on my hot dogs. There's a place in Boston that I would visit when I would go up there that serves a hot dog with horseradish mustard and sauerkraut. Throw some celery salt on it and there's some fucking work happening.

Favorites: ketchup and sweet chili sauce. Sometimes both.

Ans I've started taking a liking to relish.

And you're from Chicago, right? It must be hard to find a place that will allow you to put ketchup on one. Unless you're being sarcastic to see if anyone will pick up on the irony of what you said.
