Whose brilliant idea was this!?!?! REALLY!! I was asking the clerk at GS when it was going to release around a month away and it had no specific date (or at least so I was told). I forgot about it for some time due to classes and next thing I know it launched. Anyways, I'm thinking of getting the game with my next pay check. Is anyone buying this too? o_O The graphics look really good, the story line looks like it was worked on (although it still gives the same generic feeling it seems the characters have more and better personality now from what I've seen) and the on-line multi player looks well done. The one thing I read and didn't like is that the game is around six hours long. I was expecting more than that, they took their sweet time with the game.

...making it launch on Portal 2's release date... God what a stupid idea!

Even releasing Socom alongside those other two was a bad idea.

I even question releasing MK with Portal 2.

IMO, Portal 2 would be looking down on the other two. But there were more people at the midnight even to pick up MK than there were Portal so I don't think MK should be far behind world wide, if it is behind actually. But yeah, seriously HVS should have done everything in their power to release it at least one week earlier.

Really?

I would think that Mortal Kombat is still the bigger franchise/name.

I assume Portal is more of the critical darling.

But yeah SOCOM and ESPECIALLY The Conduit 2 just got a bum-rap. And let's be honest, the whole PSN fiasco, not helping SOCOM.

After doing a bit of research it looks like they are both selling about the same.

I assumed Portal 2 would do better because it felt like there was more hype leading up to it, and although everyone knows what Mortal Kombat is, it feels like it hasn't been in the limelight in a while.

But, fighting games are definitely "in" right now.

The Conduit made me sick. Literally. Must have been a terrible frame rate or something.
Oh and the levels were boring, the story was slow, the weapons were boring. And nothing happened.

yeah. The story of the first one was barebones, there was very little development in every way there could be. This one, they said, is better done. I still don't expect a great story but it should finally have a personality of its own. The graphics look way better, the online is said to be really good although not revolutionary in any way. And the only two games that made me sick was one of Smackdown vs Raw (the very first one released for the PS2 I forgot it's name) and Unreal 1 on PC. It's most likely frame rates or the tv you're playing it on. I remember feeling motion sickness while watching my friend play Halo 3 on his tv but I never had any problems anywhere else. So... if you can rent it or something, just give it a try and see if it does the same would be my advice.
