The demo is available on Steam and XBL, (and maybe PSN too, I can't remember if this game is coming out for PS3).

Probably not surprised to hear this from me, but it's amazing. The combat system has been completely reworked, and for the better. It has a much more hack and slash feel to it, but you still get a ton of abilities to use and you can still pause the action and tell your party members what to do.

Decision system as been revamped to feel more like ME2, which the "good" thing being on top and the "bad" thing being on the bottom. The middle option is typically something mischievous or sarcastic, but not mean spirited...I've been picking it a lot.

They didn't dumb down the rest of the game like Mass Effect 2 did, though. Although the functionality is locked in the demo, you still have a large inventory. You still have a bunch of skill trees, the UI is just better and easier to use. You pick up loot off of corpses.

It's a great blend of traditional Baldur's Gate/Neverwinter Nights style RPG with combat more fluid, reminiscent of Torchlight. I never felt like I was "rolling dice" when I used an ability.

They've also drastically improved the graphics in the game, especially character models.

Worth checking out.

I really couldn't get into the demo, although that really is more about me than the game. I just can't get really interested in it since I know its "just a demo" with this type of game. The dialogue options came up and I thought, "I don't care." The only reason I downloaded it was because the whole "Call to Arms" thing.

Dragon Age 2??? I'm still trying to beat Dragon Age 1!

Tried out the demo, I had fun with it. Kind of reminded me of a much closer X-men Legends/Marvel Ultimate Alliance game.

With holding down the triggers to activate powers and switching between teammates with a button.

I really did grow tired of the battle... cutscene..dialog choice... cutscene... battle format though.

You guys are lame, don't know how people can enjoy Mass Effect so much and not this. >_>

I'm a big mass effect fan, but this is better. (I'm making that comparison based on I liked DA:O better than ME2, and this game is looking even better than that one).

I like my RPG not for dummies.

Don't get me wrong. I loved DA:O and played through it multiple times (including a playthrough leading up to DA2). I'm really looking forward to DA2. However, the things I like about RPGs don't really come across very well in a demo such as this. So, I didn't really enjoy it. There was nothing in the demo, however, to make me think the game will be anything below expectations and I remain just as excited as before.

As a sidenote, I probably wouldn't have liked the ME2 demo if it had come out before the game (since it came after, I haven't played it).

I was really just saying that to Acebot and BaB...who said he enjoyed the demo but not the action/cutscene/dialogue pattern? That's exactly what Mass Effect does!

As for not enjoying the demo because nothing "mattered"...when I first started playing it I felt that way, but then I realized I could say whatever I wanted and put points into whatever I wanted with no repercussions because I would be making my "real" character later. That made it a lot more enjoyable.

I don't think either of us, didn't enjoy it, but really the "combat" of Mass Effect is much deeper than this.. or at least what's presented in the demo.

Anyone pick up this game?

I just played the demo and thought it was quite fun.

I have it, but I'm not even out of the section that was in the demo yet.

Had a busy week without much time to play, and what time I did have I spent on Pokemon White. XD

I'll get through a lot this weekend though.

Really? All you do in Mass Effect is take cover and shoot stuff while you spam your abilities. Combat is not the reason to play that game - as far as third person shooters go it's pretty far down on the list in terms of the combat.

Dragon Age is the same, except you don't take cover, and on harder difficulties a lot of emphasis is placed on setting up what moves each of your party members is using and coordinating an attack.

And to me.. again based solely on the demo, this boils down to wacking the X button and occasionally using one of your special moves. Waiting for it to cool down, rinse and repeat.

Again, RPG battles don't loan themselves well to demos.

Well, I think this game looks very promising. Unfortunately, I won't have time to play it until the summer.

Let me know what you think after getting into it, Vamp.
