I find myself using IGN a lot, more out of habit than anything else. I want to find something better. What sites do you use?

I go to www.giantbomb.com and listen to their weekly podcast for pretty much everything.

1. Steam News

2. Gametavern

3. Reddit/Zero Punctuation/Youtube

4. Friends - OMG check out this new game!

5. BaB

6. Nerds on the Rocks

7. Word of Mouth

8. Reddit

9. Amazon

And yeah, that's that. I gave up on sites like IGN a long time ago. I used to be hardcore, checking for news and updates daily, and then I stopped giving a shit and it turns out that it is much less stressful to find out a Zelda game is coming out next week instead of hearing about it at E3 4 years in advance. I like hearing about news on social sites like Reddit because it provides a huge body of social commentary, and more often than not the commentary is way more valuable/entertaining than the news.

IGN hardly has any news anyway. Or maybe it's just the UK version that they force me to read?

PimpDailyDose on youtube for news. It's just three hot chicks giving you a reader's digest of what's going on on a daily basis. I don't like the what this implies but sadly, these girls do a better job than the competition. They don't intend to cover the fact that they're using sex appeal to get the audience, they just go straight to the point, give the news and some times make funny videos about the recent news and I've given up on fighting against these stereotypes. They don't try to raise the standards when it comes to videogame news, they just aim to get it right. I like the fact that they're blunt and I'm not as hyped about video game news to read every single article on sites and magazines like I did back in the day.

As for reviews, I believe Yahtzee holds the truth like a torch. He's pretty much the only game critic that doesn't care about going against the hype and pointing out obvious flaws, cliche and criticize lame practices of the video game industry. He's the only video game reviewer who actually puts priorities where they should be.

These are the only two sources of information I care to keep track on. I still visit IGN (like once a week) and other sites for news though. I'm thinking of joining 1up.com's community since it seemed pretty active and interesting the last time I checked.

I work backwards and go down the rankings on Gamerankings.com when selecting games. It's very rare that I ever pre-order a game or purchase it before plenty of reviews have been made.

Still go to Kotaku after the recent layout change?

It's crazy bad.
