Think we had a thread like this last year, same idea.

Basically just post what you are up to/where you are at in games you are currently playing and when you beat them.

Interesting to keep track of how many times you beat in a year.

Anyhow,

"Beat" the free Doritos games on XBLA with some friends last night, good times for freebies.

I'm up to chapter 12 I believe in Bayonetta, and at the Pirate Base in Epic Mickey.

-The 3rd or 4th chapter in Mirror's Edge (I forget, I haven't played it in a while).
-Playing through the L4D2 campaign with my brother, on the 3rd act of the 2nd chapter.
-Taking my time with GT5, probably %5 or so completed.

And I'm also playing through some indie games:
-Osmos (last 5 levels or so - but damn hard!)
-World of Goo (played only 5 or 6 levels, playing it whenever I get bored for a few minutes)

Finished Portal, Machinarium and Braid about 10 days ago.

Got around 60 hours logged into Fallout New Vegas and im just about to go to Vegas.
Still need to beat Bioshock 2 and Condemned 2.
My girlfriend just got Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, which I will probably steal some time soon.
I also got World of Keflings and Raskulls on XBLA and those are both lots of fun.

Original Ninja Gaiden? Like NES Ninja Gaiden?

That game is busted. So many ways to rush that shit down.

Uhm I'm in the middle of playing Pokemon SoulSilver, Just picked up that sweet shiny Raikou at gamestop last week. He's so shiny.

Been playing a lot of Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends. Also always playing those fighters. Getting pumped for MvC3 and the beast that is Xero/Haggar/Amaterasu team.

Original Ninja Gaiden for NES...Well, actually it's from "Ninja Gaiden Trilogy" on SNES, but it's basically that one. My friend got one of those cartridges with every single SNES game on it that you can play on your regular system. It's an amazing thing.

What do you mean about Ninja Gaiden? It's fun, but super frustratingly hard sometimes. Rewarding when you get by a section though.

There's a wall glitch in ninja gaiden 1 that lets you basically run on an invisible platform all the way to the boss of each level. Aside from that the spinny sword pickup is broke. Literally can one hit most bosses with spinny sword item.

Been making some progress on Pokemon, but slowly.

Recently acquired Enslaved during GameStop's gamer Day sale. I'm about 65% done, I think I'm at like chapter 10 and there's like 14-15 but they vary in duration so much so tough to say.

Good game. Not great, but for 15 bucks can't go wrong.

It's a bit difficult to get your Pokemon ready for the second bout with the Elite Four I think. It's part of the reason why I didn't go back and try to level up my Pokemon some more to beat them.

That being said, I'm currently doing Rydia's Tale in FFIV: The After Years, and I'm in Taejin's Tower in FFXIII.
I also finished Ocarina of Time 3D and the Master Quest so that should count for two games right?

The Temple of the Ocean King makes Phantom Hourglass pretty unsatisfactory to play at times, but you can probably finish it relatively quickly if you keep at it.

Sad thing is, since nobody has an Xbox here, there's no point in buying one. All of my friends have PS3s. And with life catching up, I have much less time for games these days. Having 2 consoles is a luxury I can't afford.

Still, I really hate missing out on some great games..

Anyway, I finished Mirror's Edge, God of War 2 (yes, 2) and Portal 2 completely some time ago so I could start on my backlog.

Started GoW3 but hated it and left it.

Now playing Alice: Madness Returns.

Maybe I'll finish Infamous if I have time after that.

You love it that much?

The first game was great, the second was good, and the third could've been much better - had they not made a game that revolved only around violence. [minor spoiler] The minute I ripped off Helios' head, I turned the game off and decided not to touch it again. [/minor spoiler]

That part was in the E3 demo that I think everyone had access to, so I think you're good with the spoiler.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not in love with the game, but I did enjoy it well enough. The second one will always be my favorite, and the second is pretty guilty of some gratuitous violence, like when you get the key from that dude on the horses or steeds of time or whatever.

Never had so much fun mashing the circle button in my life.

But yeah, if gratuitous blood and violence turns you off, then I never really thought the God of War series was for you. I think that's why Earl's not too keen on it.

It's not that violence puts me off; my problem is that this game revolves around it. There were fewer puzzles, the story just made Kratos seem like an asshole and there was a ton of unnecessary violence imo.

The second game barely passed the fun barrier for me; the third was just outrageous.

Ginkasa, which Phenom chip did you settle with? Also, who manufactured your gpu? Looking like a nice rig. I've got 4 gigs of some really good OC'ing RAM at 1666 mhz but I'm not sure about timing and everything to have it run efficiently if I get another 4 gigs. My power went out one night, so I played OoT 3D until my 3DS died, then switched to PoR. It's a game I've been playing off and on for a long time...so it was cool to finally kill Dracula and finish the game. :)

I did a dungeon and I actually took some time to go exploring in Lost Odyssey, whether it was to look for more dreams to read, or a treasure quest or two. It's nice, but sadly it won't help me get closer to finishing the game.

I finished Lost Odyssey! The credits haven't finished rolling yet, but there should be a little more than 53 hours clocked in on there.

The ending was really long too. I think from the second the last boss battle ended to the credits it was 20+ minutes. I mean it's not MGS fare, but long enough when it's not expected.

The customizable ship thing goes into Spirit Tracks with the trains. You'll like it, as the central "hub" or "temple" was done much much better this time around, and the whole attachment you get from having Princess Zelda around makes for a wonderful storytelling mechanic, like in Twilight Princess with Midna.

I believe it's about a hundred years after Phantom Hourglass.

Angrist

Yeah that's what I remembered... but now the game opens with "This is the oldest story of the land!" or something like that.
I guess I shouldn't expect Zelda games to make too much sense, especially the handheld ones.

Angrist
09-26-2011, 03:26 AM
What! Crashing with another train means instant game over?? Pfffffffffff!! That's just silly. I usually never save after a game over... but this time I hadn't saved after a long dungeon, so I had to.
Oh, talking about Spirit Tracks, which is a much nicer game than Phantom Hourglass.

I have 109 stars in SMG2. I do remember all you guys talk about 240 stars, so I wonder what that's all about. Mirror mode or so? I think I'll save that for in a few years (like I did with Luigi in SMG).

Still haven't continued Portal 2. I just expect it to be incredibly boring. And I think I've also been stuck for an hour or so.

Been updating my soldier class in BF2. Ghost Town map. Getting warmed up for BF3.

I would love console extinction. Imagine developers and consumers balancing entirely within a "pc" market.

Bumping this thread because I want to complain about having too many games to play.

So, anyway, I beat Zelda the other day. As is typical with me I didn't 100% or anything, but I also didn't rush through it. I did things as they came naturally, but didn't spend hours nooking through every cranny hoping there might be a secret or something.

I'm also playing Skyrim. I technically started prior to getting Zelda, but paused when Zelda came out. I've been playing Skyrim more for the past day and a half or so, but kind of got to stopping point. Part of me wants to keep playing, but I also know its an immense game that will take oodles of times to finish. I kind of want to hold off on it for that reason. I have several other, shorter games I could knock out. Such as...

Assassin's Creed: Revelations. I actually started this same time as Skyrim and then put it off when Zelda came out. Priorities. I've been thinking about going ahead and playing this, but I'm torn between it and...

Uncharted 3. This is actually the first Uncharted game I've gotten while it was still new hotness. The first one I got, like, two years later and the second I got just earlier this year. I'm looking forward to playing tres, but I don't quite love the series as much as...

Zelda. Yeah, I've beaten it, but its still on my list. As I said before, I didn't 100% it so there's still stuff I can do there. I won't necessarily 100% it, but I would like to try out the boss rush and see what this Hero Mode is all about. But, I have technically beaten it and waiting on the shelf is...

Sonic Generations. First new Sonic game I've gotten since Adventure 2 for obvious reasons. I've played this one a little bit the other day and enjoyed it. Its pretty interesting how it makes me hardcore nostalgia (that's a verb, right?) for both my 6 year old self rocking the Genesis and my 13 year old self rocking the Dreamcast. Also, I'm kind of reliving the Great Console War of 1991 since I also have...

Super Mario 3D Land. I actually bought this mostly for my wife. She digs Mario. I'll want to play with it sometime, too, though. At the very least, I feel slightly obligated to put some time on this snazzy new Zelda edition 3DS I have sitting right next to me. That and my gold Wiimote are probably the most uselessly cool things I own.

Anyway, those are just the brand new games I've got fighting got my attention. I also have a pretty sizable backlog of games that I bought newish on a whim but never played significantly (Gears 1 and 2 as an example), older games that I wasn't able to experience until now (Fallout 1 and 2 to name just the most recent old school purchase), and older games that I'm interested in playing again for whatever reason (like, maybe because they've been re-released in HD in the Team Ico Collection). We must also not forget that Star Wars: The Old Republic comes out in as little as 12 days (depending on how early I get my early access).

I'm also kind of holding off wanting to keep something saved for me to do when I take 3-4 weeks off later this month. But, I might also not have time to play games ever again at that point since I will also be in charge of a newborn. Nobody wants to be this guy.
