I'm going to take a risk on who I would like to see win. :)
EDIT: I'm doing this right, right? The ordering doesn't matter for 1-4, 5-8, and 9 - 10 doesn't matter, does it?

It does, sorry if I didn't make that clear. When a team wins you receive that many number of points, so you want to rank all the teams purposefully, basically from your Superbowl winner (12) to your sure-bet wildcard loser (1).

Right, but if I think 1 - 4 will all lose, then the order of them doesn't matter, right? Same with 5 - 8 and 9 - 10, I'm essentially just picking groups of losers.
edit: nevermind, I was being dumb, I see how it works. :) I'll fix them tomorrow, too sleepy right now.

Being a relatively large fan, it breaks my heart to rank the Seahawks anything other than 12th - but logic dictates that since they only got 7 wins in the season, they probably won't get 4 in the playoffs. And I just ranked the Saints low because they're most likely going to decimate Seattle, and I'm a preemptive sore loser.

An injured, over-rated, fluke-winning Superbowl team. :p
I expected the Saints to get pounded in round two of the playoffs, so this is not as shocking as it seems.

Fan status aside, I actually think this team has good potential to go far in the playoffs. We have a top five defense, an excellent quarterback and receiving core, and a potentially good-to-great running back in James Starks. We can beat any NFC playoff team, although it will be difficult to get past the Falcons in Atlanta.

I read a report that David Akers is apparently going through some personal family matters that may have contributed to his two missed field goals last night. Kind of a sad way to end his career if that was his last game with the Eagles.

Yeah, read about that too. I was kind of shocked to hear him say "not how I wanted to end my career with Philadelphia" in his news conference. I don't think anyone on the Eagles or the fan base wants him gone. One bad game doesn't make a career, especially if he was battling a personal issue (although that shouldn't be an excuse.) He should have put six more points on the board yesterday, but he's still probably the most consistent kicker in Eagles history.
Oh, and I'm just glad my dad, a diehard Packers fan who went to the game yesterday, didn't rub it in too much. Although it was probably fun being in that stadium yesterday as the enemy. Looking forward to another season with Andy "I've got to do a better job" Reid!

One of those field goals he was totally within his rights to miss. It was 50+ yards in terrible wind.

It was actually only 41, but yeah, the wind was bad. He had the distance on that one, but just pushed it too much. I don't blame him for that one as much, but it would have been nice to start that game up 3-0.

But congrats to the Pack. They played an awesome game, and although I predicted the Falcons would advance the furthest in the NFC playoffs it was nice to see their vanilla/consistent gameplay get rocked by the Packers.
I honestly expect a great game with the Packers vs. Bears next week. I would be okay to see either team advance to the Superbowl because I have always been quite impressed with Rodgers and it would make for an offensive Superbowl. He is an awesome hick-douche. I still maintain that the Bears are in over their head a bit, but nevertheless.....
Now let's just see a Jets win.

Ah, but it is the rivalry in the NFL. As far as I am concerned, next week's playoff games are more exciting than the Superbowl will likely be. At least as a Chicago-native. I'm pretty pumped. And like I said, at the end of the day it is a win-win because the Packers are one of the most exciting teams this year, and it would be fun to see Rodgers go to the Championship. At the same time, I can always get behind my home team going to the Superbowl (even though I maintain the Bears are still in over their head. ).

I thought about this, and I think it would be a pretty funny thing if the Packers with the Superbowl the season that Favre retires. Unless of course he comes back next season...which he might.
I like the Packers more now that Rodgers is playing. I think we are going to see some big changes in the NFC North...specifically, I am waiting for the Lions to have an exceptional year.

I now think the Packers have the best chance of winning it all. They have a great defense and the best QB left in the playoffs. That is a recipe for a championship.

Rooting for the Packers. Either way, both of those teams will have at least 3-7 more Super Bowl victories than the Eagles. :(
Early Vegas line is Packers -2 by the way. Slightly surprised that they are the favorites, but I think the Packers will play well in that Dallas stadium.

Bond?
Any thoughts?
As someone who watched the Bears play every game this season, I have to say they played MISERABLY yesterday. Okay, so they had a little surge in defense, but they had their second (more like third) and third (more like second  ) string QBs in.
I gotta say, after watching the Steelers disassemble the Jets (and mind you, Big Ben was sick the whole game), and after watching the Packers almost let the Bears tie things up....I'm not sure how I would feel as a Packers fan.
I'm actually quite torn, I like the Steelers and I like Rodgers. And I really like underdogs. And I really really like vengeance and I kind of dislike Brett Favre as a person. So yeah.

Honestly, watching it again... I don't see what people thought was so bad about it. :ohreilly: I found it to be one of the more entertaining halftime shows in the last 5-8ish years. IMO the last three ones were worse.
I think they should keep letting people who do "pop" handle the show, and not these lame rock bands. It's supposed to be entertaining and flashy, not just a lame music preformance... that's how I see it anyway. lol

You should never expect the half time show to be great. It's always going to be some band who has like 15 minutes to do as much crap as possible. It's never going to be a concert or anything. All in all I thought this one was fine.
Typhoid
02-07-2011, 01:28 PM
Personally, I don't understand why they even have a band play at halftime. I mean, alright - obviously I understand - but logic of putting on a good show would dictate that you want something that everyone will enjoy, not just some, a handful, or even half will.

I'd just like to see a super awesome marching band or something. I know that really isn't part of pro football's tradition, but a super great marching band would be sweet.
Also, I'm happy for my dad who is a lifelong Packer fan, but I was pretty bummed again this year seeing another team that isn't the Eagles celebrating. Maybe the Flyers and Phillies can bring the parades this year.

I totally support switching to a full marching band show. They could even do lights. Marching bands kick ass....nothing is more cool than seeing a drum line or hundreds of Brass and Woodwind instruments cranking out the Imperial March.
Whether or not your gravitate towards hip hop or rock, there is no denying that the sound was awful at the Superbowl. The mics were way too loud, Firgie was yelling into her microphone, the two other singers were off beat and out of tune, the autotune was out of tune....I'm sure the sound engineer got fired.
