The game looks like Mafia with some really odd looking faces.

The game isn't GTA-style. It's a murder-solving type thing. Or so the website said.
I think it's unfair to say it looks like Mafia just because it's set in the 40's. Of course they look similar - they're set in the same decade. :p

The technology used for the facial motion capture is pretty impressive too.
I'm excited for this game.

Here's Game Play Trailer 3
Alright, who is getting this? I'm thinking of picking it up while I'm home for a week.

Getting it Tuesday.

It looks good but I dont know if I will get this anymore, it does not have any multiplayer in it, which is pretty lame.
Any impressions so far? I am still on the fence about picking this up.

Picked it up. 3 Discs. plus they gave me some Pre-order DLC for free.

Today's my day off, so this is pretty much what I've been doing. I really like it. I suck at telling if people are lying or not, though. Rather, I suck at figuring out which piece of evidence to use, or whether to just use "doubt."

If I know they're lying, but I don't have HARD evidence, I use doubt. Its worked pretty well so far even though I miss here and there.
So... worth the purchase so far?

Will Gamefly this sucker in a month or so (when I get near a console again), but I can't see myself purchasing a game that only has around 12-20 hours worth of gameplay and what I've read to be no replayabiity.

I think so, but I'm torn so far. The execution of each case is very well done, the acting is top notch, and I love the performance capturing technology (even if it is creepy at times).
So far, though, this game plays like a series of mini-games, but I'm not getting how it all comes together. I'm only two hours in, though, and there are some narrative ties. We'll see after I spend more time with it.

I saw a show that reviewed this game today, and now I'm thinking about getting it - but the one thing holding me back is replay-value, because I think there is 0 replay value to this, much like "Enter game who's name is escaping me right now, detective game, cut your fingers off, context sensitive, etc"

Phoenix Wright?
I'm loving this game right now. Feels rewarding when you crack the case open in interrogation.

How long is the game, roughly? If anyone knows.
And no, no - not Phoenix Wright, I can't think of any type of descriptive words to actually remember the game, it's pissing me off. It came out last year, you play a dude trying to find a killer, your choices float around people's heads and whatnot. God damnit.
I tried renting this today but everywhere was out, so I just got Alan Wake instead.

Heavy Rain.
Anyway, I haven't beaten LA Noire, but I'm about 8-10 hours in and it doesn't feel close to ending yet. I've read 15-20 hours is the gametime. Personally, I find that plenty of game to keep me satisfied. I really can't think of many single player focused games that go longer than that except for RPGs. Not every game can be Oblivion, you know?

I'm starting to really like this game. The cases are starting to tie together, and gradually become a darker experience.

I think there is a bunch of replayability. You can take multiple routes to solve a case. Either with physical evidence or interrogation or chases depending on how you perform in areas. Not to mention that there are multiple endings.

But in a game where the end result is solving murders/what-have-you, wouldn't playing it twice take all of the guesswork/real thinking out of it?

That's my biggest fear as well. Sure, you can replay for better scores/achievements, but when you know all the pieces and what have you, its not nearly as fun.
Anyhow, I've played about 4 hours of the game so far, and really dig it. Sure, some of my complaints with the engine still exists (running is funky, aiming is crap), but since the game doesn't depend on it as much as RDR or GTA, its not a big issue.
I love search for various clues and of course the interview.

Yes and no. You can easily miss clues. Both physically and through speach. I dont want to ruin anything, but I found a clue in one case that totally turned the investigation in a different direction and it was well hidden and I can see how someone could miss it.

Just gonna say it now, I call BS so much BS on that ending.
The game really does fall apart after homicide is all I'm gonna say.

I think its gets more interesting after homicide. The ending could be a bit better, but everything after homicide is more relevant to your character. Did you find all the newspapers? They really help get the full experience. Theres a good cut scene after the credits too.
