Edit: Is Jason's clip real?
I had heard about it, but I hadn't seen it. It was made by an underground graffiti artist or something I think, and it seems that it caused some controversy.
I think it was great though.

I'm not seeing the connection between the CNN video and the Simpsons animation. To be honest, the office where they animate looks pretty decent to me...

Yeah, that's one of the nicer animation areas in Korea. I'm not sure about other places. There's one (and I believe the only) American over there working on The Boondocks who I know of and he loves it.
While in Japan the average salary for animators in their 20s is around $10,000 and doesn't exceed $30,000 for veterans in their 40s and 50s. They're starting to outsource their animation to other countries like the U.S. has been doing.
