*Can someone sticky this?

Well, so far we can say that the Eagle's offense is the suck. I can't stand Andy Reid. No team has ever won with two starting QBs, but somehow he is arrogant enough to think he can make it work. What result have we gotten so far? Garbage.

This season will be a complete mess. I'm shocked that actually ended up being a close game. Thank goodness Mike Vick actually got me excited. What a weird game. Andy Reid will be fired pretty soon I think. Total mess.

Done.

Anyways, I don't really pay attention to the NFL. I'm a CFL fan all the way, despite how terrible my team is doing right now.

That said, I'm always pulling for the Seahawks, Broncos and the 49ers.

Who were you pulling for in today's 49ers vs. Seahawks game?

Also, damn the Eagles sucked. I guess their defense was all right, considering they were up against the high powered Green Bay Packers offense, and they did get two interceptions on Rodgers. Kolb looked really lost out there though, and the receivers just weren't getting open. Where were the short routes and the screen plays? Also, it looks like Weaver is out for the season, and possibly Jamal Jackson, and then Bradley and Kolb both had concussions. Just a bad game overall, with a strange exciting finish. Too bad they didn't win, but I didn't expect them to anyway.

If it comes down to something like that, I always go for proximity. So it would be the Seahawks. So I'm pretty glad they crushed San Fran.

I only like the 49ers because my brother was really into them (from the Montana days) and his love of them brushed off on me as a kid, before I started liking my own team (Broncos). Then I realized if I was to ever go to a game, it would be in Seattle, so I've been paying more attention to them than other teams in the last 5+ years.

On a side note, why haven't we created a Gametavern fantasy league yet?

Eh, im allready in 2 of them. Its kinda a lot of work, I doubt I would want to be in anymore.

That being said, Go Steelers!

Is NFL baseball or American football?

NFL - National Football League
MLB - Major League Baseball
NBA - National Basketball Association
NHL - National Hockey League

That way you'll never be confused when we talk about American professional sports.

I'll add

MLS : Major League Soccer

But...nobody cares about that one. I actually would love to go to a Philadelphia Union game one of these days. It's apparently cheap and pretty fun. Not sure how I feel about going to Chester though. That place is a dump.

Hell, come on, man.
I love Soccer.
I'm ridiculously excited for the Whitecaps to finally be in the MLS next year.
Although it'll be different, because for once the games won't be held at the Stadium they've played every game - as far as I know - in.

I'm also excited that Seattle is in the MLS. Because the Vancouver-Seattle rivalry was always the best.

I remember when I was little, me and my dad would go to games at Swanguard, and there'd be Seattle fans on the opposite side of the field (typically), and a few of them would get up and bang drums and chant "Soun-ders", and all the Vancouver fans would yell "Suck".

The glory of sport.

I actually started to type MLS, but then I decided it wasn't really as major of a sport here yet. It's still kind of on par with the minor league sports, I feel.

As for the Union..I went to the game vs. FC Dallas when they were still playing at the Linc due to the new stadium not being ready yet. It is in Chester, which does suck, but I'm sure they have plenty of security around it that it's safe. The Commodore Barry Bridge in the background is a good touch.

Oh yeah, this topic is about football. So did anyone else notice how hardly any teams really stood out in Week 1? It seems like every teams is kind of rusty.

Soooo...

Michael Vick has been named the Eagles starter for the rest of the year. This season has been hilarious already. And yes, it has me even more excited for the McNabb Bowl next weekend in Philly. Should be a fun time.

And now Vick is injured. There isn't any information about the injury, but it didn't look like fun. The Eagles defense sucked in the first half and they couldn't stop the run all game. The offense just shot itself in the foot with stupid penalties and that one fumble. I'm just glad I didn't have high expectations for this team at the beginning of the season.

Yeah, that was a pretty terrible game. My ideal situation was that McNabb played well, but the Eagles would still win. Neither of those things happened. The way McNabb looked, I'm glad the Eagles got rid of him. I'm happy for the guy but him missing open guys and slamming the ball into the turf were vintage bad McNabb, but he did win, mainly thanks to the Eagles poor run defense.

Maybe I'm rushing to judgment again, but Kolb really doesn't look an NFL starter. The one time he threw the ball over 20 yards he terribly missed an open Jackson. Guys were open down field but he wasn't able to hit them. I think I'd rather sign Vick for another 3-4 years and draft someone for the long haul. Hopefully the Vick injury isn't too bad because it could be a long few weeks with Kolb at the helm

Professor S
10-04-2010, 12:46 PM
I'd like to see Kolb start a game from start to finish without having another QB hanging over his shoulder. If he does that, and still looks like he has all year, then I say we unload him.

I'm just shaking my head over what the difference could be from last year to now. He looked great, all things considered, in 2009. Now he looks like he's playing in middle school.

Is anyone else completely disgusted by Brett Favre, and more so by Vikings ownership? Brett has behaved like a spoiled brat for the last few years, including texting his private parts to a girl he "like likes" as if he were a 16 year old... a STUPID 16 year old. Football wise, he undermined his head coach from the minute he arrived, determined to so whatever the hell he wants.

Brad Childress was done as a coach the minute Brett Favre refused to leave the field after Childress wanted to sit him during a bad outing, and then faced no consequences. If I were Childress, I'd be ecstatic about being fired.

I really hope Farve has another huge media frenzy where he announces that he wants to play one more year - but only to find that no team will sign him.

When he was playing for GB, I'd have said I want his career to end with a championship. Now I hope his career ends in complete embarrassment.

Damn, that was insane. I went to go do something at halftime, and came back to the game in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles had only gotten one TD and the Giants then answered back with a TD. Then all of a sudden it was 31-17, the Eagles then got the onside kick and the score was 31-24, then 31-31. It's great that DeSean Jackson ended the game right then and there instead of letting it go into OT. This is the best comeback I've ever seen by the Eagles. Also, those last 28 points were scored with less than 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

Yes. Go Packers this week and next week so you can push the Bears into the three seed and potentially the Eagles into the 2 seed.

Also...the Eagles have been postponed from tonight until Tuesday night. I don't think I've ever seen Tuesday night football in my life. Kinda lame. I wanted to see a blizzard game. Plus it gives the Eagles much less rest for their final game which will probably still mean something.

Brandon Lloyd for offensive MVP:

If you've already put together a list of your favorite inappropriate quotes of 2010, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to make room at the top. Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd has chimed in with a late entry.

Speaking to the media on a conference call, Lloyd was asked if he'd like to say "I told you so" to the 49ers, Redskins, and Bears, his three former teams.

His answer? No, of course not! Because saying "I told you so" would mean that Lloyd is living in the past; that he's petty and vindictive. He's not like that at all! Unless, of course, he said something else ...

"No, I want to say, '[expletive] you.' And I mean that in the most professional way."

Oh, OK then. As long as it's professional.

Here's more from Mike Klis of the Denver Post.

After about 3 seconds of stunned silence, Broncos media relations director Patrick Smyth jumped into the call: “Anything else for Brandon, guys? I have receivers coach Adam Gase here … ”

Ahhh...poor Cowboy fans.

My dreams of an Eagles vs. Pats Superbowl is likely still a dream. I'm still not sure what the eff is going on with the Bears, and I'm in favor of a Packers vs. Pats/Steelers Superbowl.

It'll be interesting to see where Indy stands and I still maintain the Falcons are the most boring team ever.

Edit: I'm still not sure why the eff the Bears are winning. I predicted they would be a 7-9 team this year, and I think they are still like a 9-7 or 10-6 team with a great defense and a confusing offense. In other words I still am in the 'not-buying-it camp' which is where like 9/10 sports analysts are. But hey, prove me wrong. o_O

Also, is anyone else bothered by the way everyone on the Pats act like they are in some sort of cult? There is some voodoo or brainwashing going on over there.

I'd like to do the playoff pick'em.

I don't know what to make of the playoffs this year, at least in the NFC. The Packers are the 6th seed, but they seem really dangerous. The Falcons are the 1st seed, and won all but one game at home, but I think they won't hold up. Then the Saints are going to kill the Seahawks, even though they have to go on the road, which reminds me that I can't believe that there's a team with a losing record in the playoffs. I feel the same way as KG about the Bears, but they also seem like a threat at the same time because of how good they are.

As for the Eagles..well their defense is so young and banged up that I don't know what to expect. Also, now that everyone has figured out how to defend Michael Vick, the show has settled down, and the offense has become very inconsistent. The Eagles really needed that bye week, but they were awful versus Minnesota with their third string quarterback in. Also, DeSean Jackson needs to man up and run some routes up the middle of the field. If you can't take the hits, then you shouldn't be in the pros. Vick isn't getting enough protection from the Eagles awful O-Line to have time to throw the long ball every down, so Jackson and Maclin need to start running routes up the middle and under the first down marker while using their speed so Vick and throw a quick pass to avoid the issues with the pass rush. I also heard on Philly's sports radio today that LeSean McCoy has the highest yards per run average for a running back for the Eagles in the entire history of the team. Why doesn't Andy Reid run more often, especially with a weapon like McCoy.

Germy and Prof, how do you feel about the Eagles going into the playoffs?

I guess the AFC is stronger again. The Pats are dominating, and Brady will most likely be the league MVP, which I agree with. The Steelers and the Ravens still have amazing defenses, and the Jets claim to have one, but they kind of let some teams *cough* Lions, Browns *cough* back into the game, and their offense is just pitiful. The Colts probably won't go anywhere since half their offense is out. Who else, oh yeah, the Chiefs could surprise, but who knows with them losing to the Raiders in a land slide at the end of the season. The AFC will probably end with a Steelers vs. Patriots AFC Championship. I know it's easy to just pick the No. 1 and 2 seeds to play in that game, but they really are dominating.

Not really sure how I feel about the Eagles right now. The way they've been up and down this year I wouldn't be shocked if they go to the Super Bowl. I also wouldn't be shocked if they were dominated by the Packers and go one and out. I just feel like it depends so much on Vick right now and whether the offensive line can figure out blitz packages. If we get the type of game plan that they had against the Redskins, the Eagles offense is nearly unstoppable, if not, they could look like they did against the Vikings. I really don't know, they are so unpredictable. The Packers are pretty scary though...Probably more nervous about them then almost any other team in the NFC.

The Eagle's secondary has been way to inconsistent this year, and the front 7 have had a hard time getting to the QB in recent weeks. I have a hard time seeing them get past the Packers. Its a bad match-up. Rodgers vs. Eagles secondary: Packers. Packers defense and pass rush vs. Eagles o-line: Packers.

Overall, I don't the Packers going far either, and I think the Eagles would have done better against the Giants. Just a bad match-up.
