So here is my situation, I have recently moved back into my parental units abode. Now this would be all fine and dandy should they not live in such a rural area that there is absolutely no broadband access of any kind. Up until recently I'd figured that they planned to get either satellite or 3g standalone modem/router for the house, but they just made it painfully aware that it simply isn't to be. So I sat down and analyzed the facts:

I have a beast of a desktop, a netbook, an xbox 360, and a wii. The only form of internet access that I have access to the the tethering through my blackberry, which admittedly isn't too shabby. I almost get the advertised 7.2 Mb/s for the most part, which is enough to surf broadband and stream videos sans any waiting period.

And so I've decided to plunge myself into the world of network engineering and figure out some way to share the tethered internet connection from my desktop to the wireless router... enter the problematic middle steps.

I've been reading almost exaustively about the implemented windows internet connection sharing feature, but I simply don't know enough about networking to know what I'm doing.

For the record I'm using windows 7 Ultimate and a belkin wireless router.

Help my Gametavern, you're my only hope.....

Cheers in advance guys.

Ummm... don't know much about your particular situation. Let's start with this:

What connection does your blackberry use to share the internet? A USB cord, a network cable, .... ?

On another note, I know Sprint now offers a 4G wireless router that does exactly what you want out of the box. Of course, the 4G service would be through them, which may not reach your rural area yet.

You should be able to use your blackberry as a modem and find a way to make it talk to the router. A router is simply pipe that your connection goes through.

ok, the blackberry is to modem, connected to my computer through a usb cable. Yes, KillerGremlin, you're right, that is exactly what I need to do, I'm simply not sure how to set up my computer to A) act as a node for the internet connection and B) get my router to wirelessly recognize my computer as a source of internet.

I'm currenlty stuck at trying to get my router to recognize my computer as the default gateway. However do you guys know if I use the 192.168.2.1 to define my computer? or do I use its actual ip address? or do I have to use an IPv6 address?

Also, killer gremlin, the issue is that the blackberry uses its desktop software to manage the blackberry as a modem. Once the software is running and modem mode is turned on, windows then recognizes it as a dialup connection. However unless i can install windows on the router and get it to run the blackberry desktop software, i can't simply connect my blackberry to my router
