If you had a friend who had not watched any television in the pst 7-8 years what is the one show that you would tell them they should watch?

The key word here is "one". No lists of shows you like, just the one series you think they should watch over all others.

Mini-series are also allowed.

Definitely The Wire. Whenever I think about a show that was consistently good through its entire run, that's the one.

Though if push came to shove, I'd say that only the first season of Twin Peaks is my favorite television of all time, but as an entire series it just doesn't quite cut it. I could watch the first season over and over though. That's older than 7-8 years though.

The First season of Twin Peaks was really good.

Alan Wake has a Twin Peaksesque mini-show in it that you can watch called Night Falls.

Gosh I really have to think on this one some more.

Arrested Development, by far.

Seconded by The Office, with a disclaimer to stop after Season 4. Or perhaps a recommendation to skip the American version and just watch the UK Office.

Supernatural. The apocalypse storyline was epic.

EDIT: Sorry, the last 7-8 years? No question: Battlestar Galactica. One of the best serial dramas EVER. And unlike LOST the writers actually knew where the story was going.

I'm sorry but the ending of Planet of the Cylons was ridiculously dumb.
