Alright manly men, let's hear what movies brought tears to your eyes or made you cry.

Awakenings was the worst for me. The absolute worst.

Up is a close second. They start out sad, get you happy, and then kick you in the balls again.

I can't hear the theme song to Up! without getting a little teary eyed.

Grave of the Fireflies. It's about two little orphaned children in post-war Japan slowly starving to death. And that's not a spoiler because you see it in the first five minutes and the rest of the movie is a flashback.

What makes it worse: it's based on the memoirs of the older brother who actually survived, but his sister did indeed die pretty much the way it's depicted in the movie.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind made me cry I think. I was also kind of drunk at the time, so that helped.

Braveheart made me tear up, but I was like 10 or 11, so that's not so bad.

Up certainly got me pretty close. I can't think of anything else recently. Maybe some documentaries.

October Sky was pretty emotional at the end.

I remember when you recommended that part to me. That whole movie really was just rough.

I just watched the Futurama ep with Fry's dog.

The whole time I thought it was ok, until the end came :(

Disney's Merlin. When Arthur was a squirrel and this female squirrel liked him. Then he turns back into a human, breaking the squirrels heart. :( It got me every time when I was a kid.

2 days ago I saw The Godfather. At one point, there's this gorgeous shot of the family house, all yellow rock and green plants. It was so beautiful, I got tears in my eyes. Not sure why, maybe it triggered some inconcious sad memory.

Shower(1999) 'Xizao' It's a Chinese film about a son who returns to his hometown, thinking that his father died. Something about the film got me teary. I highly recommend it.

The English Patient. I was young. It made me cry. I hate that movie.

Bambi.

Grave of the Fireflies - This is the gnarliest emotional movie ever.

The ending for the episode about Fry's brother in Futurama is pretty rough too. A friend of mine told me to check it out.

I teared up at the end of the Truman show.

I'm a big baby when it comes to movies, and I get caught in all the emotions and whatnot. I just can't think of any particular films at the moment. I'm gonna have to go check out that Futurama episode now though....

Edit: Up! definitely got me a little.

One of my ex-girlfriend's absolutely loves this movie, and she wanted me to watch it with her and she says she crys every single time. It was kinda sad, too. I'll admit it.

Last weekend:
The Godfather Part III. That second-last scene. :( Had me shocked and crying. I was expecting a lot of people to die, except this one.

Funny how the non-happy endings always seem the best.
