Not that this makes the wii any better than the pathetic excuse for a gaming system:

Yeah it's true. I was told not to say anything, but since it leaked anyway.

I really like the original wii though. I have a black ps3 only because I don't have any choice because it only comes in 1 color. For 360 the white one was better than the black one in my opinion, dust wasn't as visible.

I think the black wii is a bit cooler.
The electric blue on black is pretty tight. For a shitty system. Generally I prefer white systems though. Or any color but black. I had to get a black gamecube back in the day though, since they were all outta purple. Then it was like impossible to find anymore black controllers. Those orange controllers I got were baller though.

Orange Cubetrollers are awesome. We never had those in Europe, but I found some sweet half purple, half transparant ones.
I would have preferred a black Wii from the start, but now I'll probably stick with white. A black Wii with white Wiimotes looks wrong...

Ignoring Moogle's tiresome spin on it, this is a pretty simple move on Nintendo's part.
Gives em a price-cut without actually cutting the price, but also allows them to get WMP into as many hands as possible. Especially since they claim that Zelda will be WMP only.
Nintendo to Include Wii Sports Resort, Wii MotionPlus with All New Wii Systems
Starting May 9, Wii Hardware Will Be Available in Black or White
May 03, 2010 06:33 AM Eastern Daylight Time
REDMOND, Wash.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--A great value in video games is about to get even better. Starting May 9, Nintendo will add new elements to the baseline Wii™ system package offered at retailers throughout the Americas. In addition to the intuitive, motion-sensing Wii Remote™ controller, Nunchuk™ controller and popular Wii Sports™ game that currently comes standard with each system purchase, every new unit will now also come packaged with Wii Sports Resort™ and the control-enhancing Wii MotionPlus™ accessory. In addition, consumers will be able to choose between two color schemes for the Wii console and included controllers: original white, or a new black option. The U.S. suggested retail price of the new system package will remain at $199.99. Pricing outside the United States will be established by the local markets, but offer similar consumer value.
“Nintendo leads the way in delivering rich motion-control gaming experiences at an accessible price point,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “By including even more of our top-quality hardware and software in the basic Wii system package, we’re extending that commitment to entertainment and value. Now more than ever, consumers can count on Nintendo to deliver inclusive fun and advanced motion controls at a mass-market price.”
Wii Sports Resort expands on the active-play fun of the original Wii Sports, with resort-themed activities such as wakeboarding, archery and swordplay. What’s more, Wii Sports Resort features the rich control enhancements of Wii MotionPlus, which allows users to dive in and enjoy precision motion-control excitement right out of the box.
Wii MotionPlus has set the standard in precision motion control by delivering an immersive, social experience unavailable on any other system. As of May 9, when both the Wii Sports Resort game and a Wii MotionPlus accessory will come standard with every new Wii console, people who purchase the system can experience this leading-edge video game technology from the moment they plug in and power up.
Previously unavailable throughout the Americas, the black version of the Wii console will offer all the groundbreaking features and functions of its white counterpart in a stylish new color scheme. Whether they aim to color-coordinate with other devices or simply love the way it looks, consumers throughout the Americas can add a black Wii console with matching black Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers to their home entertainment lineup. Additional black controllers and accessories can be purchased separately.

I'd love to have the black system; I was a huge fan of it when I saw it as the Revolution. Hell, I would probably trade in my Wii and a few other things to switch the color, but I have a ridiculous amount of VC/WiiWare titles attached to this one, and it's damn near impossible to transfer that sort of stuff.

Saves can be transferred via SD card and your downloads are linked to your account!

The games seem to be linked to your account specifically for Club Nintendo registration purposes...I don't know of anyone that's been able to recover a Club Nintendo account and their VC/WiiWare stuff on another Wii. Everyone I've talked to, particularly where broken systems are concerned, has had to go through Nintendo of America for transferring the rights to another Wii under special circumstances.
Granted, if they've changed something recently, I could be wrong, and I'd actually be pretty delighted if they made that fix. I'll look into it.

No its a pretty dumb system. Even if you have your Wii linked to your MyNintendo account and you have an SD card, you can't transfer your downloadable games. Or I would have traded up on my dying Wii long ago.
I believe you can send the consoles to Nintendo and they would do the switch for you, but too much effort since SMG2 is out in 20 days.

Well I would *assume* that since they're releasing black wii they will probably change that system of VC stuff. If not that's just silly on Nintendo's part.

Expect them to be silly. I can't see them changing the system they've used for years.

The color change is simply a way of boosting sales that have started to decline. That's all it's ever been with Nintendo. Xbox 360 was the first one to differentiate a hardware experience with colors, and that primarily concerned hard drive space, not the way the Dashboard was handled.
The only big change Nintendo ever made with VC was SD Card support, which I'm still very pleased with. I now have pages of old games, and withholding that option was literally the reason why I wasn't buying VC/WiiWare at the time.
Looks nice.
Imagined them making it bigger though...

Finally, a Wii that matches my dildo collection.
You have no idea how hard it has been trying to feng shui my dresser.

We've had the Black Wii in the UK for a number of months now, and I personally prefer it to the White model.
The early concept shots of the "Revolution" as it was then called had been black, and it just looks incredibly slick =]
However, the one issue that I do have with the Wii as a console is the lack of being able to transfer all your Virtual Console/ WiiWare purchases across as they're tied to the console rather than a central account.
I contacted Nintendo UK and they said if I sent my old White Wii and the new Black Wii to them, they would transfer everything across - realistically who is a) going to own two Wii's, and b) going to risk sending them both through the post?
I am hoping more than anything that Nintendo reveal a Wii System Update at this years E3, in a similar style to Microsoft announcing the NXE.
It is about time they fixed all of this. It means that I have wasted £100 if I can't get that content back, and it isn't fair on those that express loyalty to the company through their purchases at all =[

The only problem I could foresee em having is controlling/limiting the number of times you can do it.
Sort of like the PSN share system, where well... like Magus and I pretty much split everything we buy, so they wouldn't want to lose out on all that profit.
Also question for the Seedhouse, does the black Wii smudge easily? Fingerprint magnet?

I didn't notice that when a friend brought over his black Wiimote.

Now that I have a black Classic Controller Pro, I should be able to answer this.
Does it smudge? Yes. Does it smudge a lot? Nah, not in an annoying way. I've been playing for 15 hours now, the controller doesn't look dirty. Just some fingerprints when you hold it in the right light.
