This is hard....I think that's why there hasn't been a ton of responses. It's also a very personal question, what songs elicit personal emotions of sadness. As far as movies go, this is one of my favorite sci-fi movies, and it's kind of mellow and sad:

I had this as temp music in my film for so long. I had to take it out because I got too attached to it.

Lyrics are terribly sad, but the music itself is kind of uplifting so it's fun to sing.
