View Full Version : My Wii's messed up, what would you do?

As I've posted before, my Wii makes a terrible noise when it reads a disc (which is almost always).
I have 3 options:
- Send it to Nintendo, for €90 they'll send me a brand new one (repairing would cost even more). They'll transfer my downloaded games.
- Buy a new black Wii with Wii Sports Resort, for €180. This way I'll also get a Wiimote (€40), nunchuck (€20) and Wii Sports Resort (€35).
- Try to live with the noisy Wii. At the moment I've put it in the closet so it's not that bad. But whenever I take it to family/friends, it's hardly bearable.
So what would you do? Oh, I also thought of a slight variation on the first option:
- Call Nintendo and haggle down the replacement price (considering I get more worth for my money when I buy a new one)
Thanks!

I like the idea for the variation on the first option. I don't think it'll work that well, but it's definitely worth a shot. If they tell you no then you're right back where you started, so you have nothing to lose really.
yeah, try doing that. And that black wii sounds cool but do you play much offline multiplayer? If not, it's not worth it, IMO.

I'd say just buy a new one.
Fixing a broken system seems sketchy to me, because it could break again - it's broken before, right.
So yeah, I'd say just suck it up and get the new one for double the cost of fixing your broken one - because you do get wii sports resort, motion plus, and controllers - so it's worth it.

I've heard that there are Youtube movies on how to fix this problem. I might try that.

What would I do? Stop into customer service on the way to work... Did I mention how awesome it is that Nintendo fixes consoles on site unlike some other company headquartered in Redmond, WA
As for you... if you're going to replace it and/or fix it, at least let it break first. I'd live with the noise for a while.

This weekend I opened up my Wii to try and stop the noise. There were a few youtube videos that gave some tips on how to do that.
So far no luck. I'm afraid the bending I've done has only broken the DVD drive. It gives disc errors all the time now.

Time for a new wii, cause by opening yours you voided anything nintendo could do for you :(

Pawn it for cocaine. Oh wait....the fake lack of supply created by Nintendo to create outrageous want for the Wii is over. Dammit, if only your Wii broke 3 years ago.
Throw it at your drug dealer and steal the coke. You gotta do what you gotta do.

I didn't really fix the noise (I think it got a bit better though), but at least I put it back together and it's working again. :)
And I didn't have any warranty left for it anyway.
I also found replacement DVD drives for €60. What do you think of that option?

Then replace the drive if you think you can without messing it up. I mean if you find an FAQ and it looks confusing or complicated, don't do it.

I bought a new DVD drive for €37,50. Finally fixed my Wii!! Now I can start/beat all those games like SMG2, Sin & Punishment 2, Wii Play Motion, MH3!
