It was a pretty enjoyable episode to say the least. LOL at shifty eyed Flocke after Hurley said they would all to go hell.

Quite liked it but more confused than ever. Read about the cork theory on IMDb's Lost forum a few weeks ago but didn't think much of it. So the island is a cork afterall. And the flashsideways are gushing with wine....evil evil wine.

Jacob kicking ass was fun. He did give off a God vibe with his whole not directly interacting with humans and using Richard as his prophet. He isn't all good though. Had Richard and Ben kill all of the Dharma initiative. I forget the relation of that event to everything else.

Can Smokey split himself in two? A bit confused by the scene with Richard's dead wife and him in the boat. We hear Smokey above the ship while she's still below. She had to be Smokey right?

Richard's laugh (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYGUzuzrkhQ#t=2m31s) in the beginning of the ep was the best part. :)

Awesome episode. So if the alternate universe is with the island-cork uncorked, what is so evil about it?

And, yeah, I'm even more confused by dead spirits on the island, MIB's ability to take on other forms, and what not.

I like how they took the "island is hell" theory and completely blasted it away, with Jacob "drowning" Ricardo.

That's just it. Everyone seems better off.

Anyone else find it odd Jacob and MIB both had American accents when Richard arrived, having already been on the island for a very long time? Could they be from the future?

I have a feeling Jacob and MIB can speak any language they wish to... I wouldn't read too much into that.

At the beginning when Jacob first meets Richard, I think we see a naive and young guardian in Jacob. He believes he can simply bring humans to the island, and they will show their goodness to MIB. Jacob was also very quick to anger when Richard began telling him how he thought the island was hell.

This conversation with Richard seems to change Jacob's outlook on his needed interaction with humanity. He proceeds to touch each of the candidates at critical points in their lives, to point them in the right direction. As Jacob said, "it only ends once."

Might be a red herring. Richard could have easily hallucinated that whole thing.
