That's right. Scooby Doo, bitches.
Here's the rules and stuff:
What is mafia?
Mafia is a game where you use your wits to decipher who is good and evil among a group of players.
Basic rules:
The "village" consists of all players in the game. Included in the village is a small number of bad guys. The bad guys all know one another at the beginning of the game, but nobody else knows anything about anyone other than themselves.
Each day (normally 24-hour period) the village discusses and publically votes for one person to be executed that night. At the same time, the bad guys choose one person to kill each night and PM the name to me.
The good side wins if all of the bad guys die. The bad side wins if the number of good guys is less than or equal to the number of bad guys (on the assumption that at that point, they control the vote plus get their kill, so it's inevitable).
There will be three "special" roles among the good guys. Exactly who holds each role is only known to that person.
At the end of each round, I will give the details of who died, and whether or not they were a bad guy. Same notification will be given if a good special dies.
Special Roles:
Seer -- once per night can "investigate" a particular person and find out from the narrator if they are a bad guy. They are able to determine a good special as well.
Vigilante -- once per night can kill a person of their choosing.
Guardian -- once per night can protect someone from any death other than execution by the village. They cannot protect themselves.
I will actually splitting the Guardian and Vigilante roles between players, as in two guardians and two vigilantes. One gets to make their action on odd rounds, one on evens.
Also, this game will see the introduction on The Enchanter which is the lead bad guy role. The Enchanter cannot be removed from the game until all other bad guy players are taken out. Once someone tries to remove The Enchanter from the game however, his identity will be revealed.
All roles are selected via random number generator.
Ground Rules:
You may not communicate regarding the game with someone who is dead, nor may dead players communicate about the game with active players. Dead players are also prohibited from posting in game threads. The second you read that you've died in the last round, you are no longer able to post in the game with the exception of one goodbye message that has absolutely no game relevant information in it.
You may not use any anonymous method of communication to discuss the game.
You may not use screencaps to "prove" anything to anyone. If I see anyone post a screen cap of their role PM or copy and paste any PM I've given them, they will be removed from the game. Furthermore, in the spirit of fair play, please do not request the details of other players' PMs that I have sent. Specials and bad guys will also receive the villager role PM.
Every player is required to make two game relevant posts (not spam) in every game thread. Each player is also expected to vote every round. Any player who fails to post twice or vote for more than two rounds will be removed from the game.
How to play:
Every player gets to vote for the person they think is evil each round. Good characters generally have nothing to go on but instinct. Evil players however know the identity of all the bad guys in the game and therefore will vote strategically against the good guys.
To vote type in red and bold I !vote [Player name].
You may retract a vote at any time before the round's end and recast that vote. To retract use bold and lime: I !retract [Player name]
There is a voting deadline every round that has to be met. This deadline is 10:59 am PST/1:59 pm Eastern
Any votes or retractions made after that deadline do not count.
Bad players have to decide mutually on a target to kill each round. A representative must PM me their choice before the end of the round.
Same rule applies to the vigilante, the guardian, and the seer. Each must PM their actions before round's end.
Multiple PMs can be sent if you change your mind, I will go by the most recent PM received before the end of the round.
Order of action priority is as follows:
Seer --> Guardian --> Vigilante --> Bad Guys --> Vote
Remember, players cannot be protected from the vote by the guardian. If the player with the most votes dies some other way, the vote will pass down to the person with second largest amount of votes. In the event of a tie, I will flip a coin.
This game will be light on the narrative because I have to work a lot and then school starts up soon.
For fun, I encourage each player to select a Scooby-Doo monster or villain to have as their avatar, and in game persona.
Please post in this thread so I know you have read it!!!
