Oh man. What an awesome game. I have to admit it's missing a bit of the charm of the original so far, but it picks up where the other left off and is just pure eye candy. I'm running a pretty crappy video card and I can still max out the settings. (I tried with at work with a N-Vidia 295 and it's not much different other than framerate.)

The writing seems fairly strong too. I'm satisfied with the story so far about 2 hours in.

Tenenbaum wasn't directed very well though, she keeps breaking into a Russian accent when she should clearly be German.. they even throw in some "Unds" and other german-isms. That's been the only disappointing thing so far.

I don't know why people have such a hard-on for Ken Levine, because this sequel business is doing just fine so far without him.

As for PC gaming in general, I'm going to start doing that a lot more often now. (I wasn't allowed to use a 360 controller like I have been with Fallout 3 so I'm slowly adapting to keyboard+mouse.)

I really want to get this game, but I also really need Uncharted 2.
Damn my priorities.

I've put quite a few hours into this game so far, and I have to say that while they've improved the game on almost every technical level, the one thing they didn't improve was the experience. The new BOC Lamb is a collectivist, but you're still slogging through individualist Andrew Ryan's world. The game would have been far more interesting if in the 10 years since the last game Lamb had started to rebuild Rapture as a neo-socialist nightmare. That way I'd be feeling the same sense of adventure, exploration and evelation I felt in the first game.

But I'll put in a few more hours. The first Bioshock took a while to hook me. Maybe this one will as well.
