Interesting, you're in Santo Domingo? One of the ACS sites I watch over is there. lol

And that's crazy, I hope everyone in SD is ok.

Yeah, it seems to be cool now, we only got one second shock, tsunami alert was lifted, I hear haiti got pretty fucked over though, its weird, a hospital collapses over there, and the left wing of a hospital in santiago also collapsed.

Shit in haiti is even worse than I thought with an estimated death toll of over 100000 people...

How incomprehensibly terrible. How did it affect the Dominican Republic?

Even though we also had a pretty strong shock over on our side, I havent seen any reports from structural damage, The wobble actually got me dizzy while it was happening, and my computer back home actually fell off...well, would have fallen if nobody had been there to catch it, so other than a very strong shake, everything seems to be standing.

Incredibly bad.

This is bringing out the best in a lot of people, though, as it sounds like there are a lot of generous donators.

If anybody here cares to donate, there's a really easy way to do it through mgive using your cell phone.

http://www.mgive.com/help/haiti.aspx

You can text HAITI to 90999 to donate $10 to relief efforts, 100% of which will go to Red Cross efforts in Haiti. You'll get a text back asking you to confirm the donation, and you'll have to reply "Yes" (without quotes) for it to go through. It'll just show up on your monthly phone bill. Most carriers allow you to do this up to twice per month.

They're saying the death toll is over 500,000... that'd make it the worst natural disaster in history if I'm not mistaken.

Not quite. There were two separate floods in China during the late 1800s and the early 1900s that killed millions.

Sad this happened on my 25th Birthday. I hope the Haitians can recover from this someday, because it's definitely a huge setback for the nation :(

"It's a true story."

Pat Robertson is a beacon of truth in an otherwise hopeless world.

What a terrible person. If there is a Hell, then Robertson has a special place reserved in it for making comments like that. Seriously? That guy believes deep down that he's a good person. What a moron.

WTF is up with this guy? deal with the devil??

Pat Robertson has an... interesting... take on Christianity. Needless to say, it is extremely illogical, and basically equates God to a magician - something that the history of the universe and evolution tells us God is most certainly not.

So much confusion about God and the bible...

At school the other day I walked in halfway through a conversation where someone was talking about how someone was so insensitive and saying how the Haitians made a deal with the devil or something. I jokingly asked if they were talking about Pat Robertson.

Turns out I was right.
