I just picked up MW2 at Gamestop. They said another company broke the street date, so they are too. I'm playing it... NOW.

Congrats, just be wary of MS.

They have been console that are playing games early these days, but really not sure the statue when the street date is broken.

As for it being out early, skipping the game in general so eh.

Microsoft won't ban your account if you legally purchased the game from a retailer that broke the street date.

They are able to track what retailers have broken the street date and track the copies that were sold. Stephen Toulouse, in charge of Xbox Live policy and enforcement, talked about the issue a few weeks ago on Major Nelson's podcast.

Just to be safe I won't be playinjg it with XBox Live connected unil next Tuesday.

AND IT'S AWESOME. Just like the last one, the game is so realistic sometimes I get a little shellshocked.

That conversation seriously was one of the funniest I've seen here :D

Anyway, quite a few people on my PS3 friends list were playing the game since november 3rd. Interestingly, it was being sold much earlier than the official release date here in Turkey, where it's always the other way around.. I wish I had bought it back then :( Now I have to wait for 3 weeks..

You absolutely cannot get in trouble for breaking street date as a consumer. The only way Microsoft can legally go after stores is with proof of purchase (receipt) and even then they only go after the seller.

Anyway, Modern Warfare 2 is nice and all. But Modern Warfare 3 is sooooo much better...
