View Full Version : Tekken 6
Seriously? Nobody's playing this or Brutal Legend? Am I off the beaten path or something?
Tekken 6 is fantastic, especially with Motion Blur off.
It relieves the terrible sting of Street Fighter 4. I gladly paid full price for this but I wouldn't pay $20 for SFIV again after selling it.
I still think Soul Calibur 4 is better, but Tekken truly excels at what it's great at - single player or cooperative campaign, customization, and party gameplay with multiple people.
But when I say customization, it's just that - SCIV was amazing because you could make any character into a whole new character. Tekken's is more customization - each of the 42 fighters has their own several dozen customizations specific to them. For example, Head, Upper Body, Lower body, about 20 categories like this. In each, there's usually 6 or more of the same thing, in about 6 colours. It doesn't really make sense saying it, but that's how it is. In the end, it's MORE customization than SCIV, but the system sucks because it's not creation like SCIV.
And as for the gameplay - so awesome.
I'm still a Virtua Fighter guy myself (4: Evolution inparticular) but Tekken has true merits that are worth looking into.

I've been a huge Tekken fan since I was like...11 or 12?
This game has practically every Tekken character of note (except for characters that are dead in the storyline and Forest Law for some unforgivable reason).
If I had money, I'd buy this game pretty hard.

I was a big fan of Tekken 2 and 3.. but my interest had died off sense then. I may give this one a rent

I'm going to get this game after I buy my PS3 slim, and trade in NHL09 and SF4.
I got paid today.
Goodbye cheque!

In related news, I just bought a PS3 Slim (wouldn't it be PSthree?) and Tekken 6.
I won't be playing any other of my games until I get the saved data from Dyne's HD.

The PSThree only launches near the end of the console's life span.
This game is still great. On another note, I love how Test kit PS3's play retail games, but test 360's can't. Fuckin' Microsoft, man.
But yeah, I started playing as Kazuya. His combos are completely different from Lili's.
I could see myself playing this a very long time trying to learn all the combos.

The Tekken has the worst end boss of all Tekkens.
Seriously...wtf?

I agree, Tekken is a fun game!
The last boss is hilarious.
As I recall, most of the end bosses are ridiculous like that.
Try fighting him on hard. Jesusgod.

This is the most balanced tekken in a while. Pretty much all the characters are balanced. Which is amazing considering the size of the cast. Tekken is fun kids.

Uhm here's the deal with Bob, he's real good. He's high on the tier list very high. In Tekken 6 he was the best character. They used to say there are 2 games in tekken 6, tekken 6 and bob.
What got released on consoles is actually Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, which for what reason they dropped the sweet subtitle I don't know, and it pisses me off.
Anyway for those who may or may not know Tekken 6 was out in arcade almost 3 full years before Namco decided to port it. Also it had an arcade update about a year and a half ago called Bloodline Rebellion. When BR came out is when I actually started playing Tekken in the arcade in Nashville, TN.
Anyway Bloodline Rebellion fixed a lot of balance issues in T6 (And god there were a lot). It's definitely very balanced now, although some people are saying Lars needs a lot of changes.

I don't mind Lars.
Bob is a bitch though. He shouldn't even be in the game.
What I DO like about the game a lot, is that you can use any character in the storyline mode (of which you've unlocked for that purpose) and unlock unbuyable costumes/accessories for them via it.

Try entering a tournament in Tekken sometime that's fun. The entire tournament scene is largely thugged out black guys who take it personally when you beat them in tekken. Like you crushed their pride. It is impossible to count the number of times some black guy threatened to beat me up or actually got physical with me because I beat them at Tekken with a girl character (Asuka Kazama who is actually a very good character in the game when every black guy plays steve, brian or King and Brian and steve were actually the best characters in the game in T5:DR)
It's frustrating and after a few tournaments I decided to never enter a tekken tournament in Atlanta again and definitely wary of the one in Chicago.
I will never understand why tekken became so popular with the thug community.

Tekken is hardly a game that would make me spend 500 dollars to buy a system.
But thats just my opinion.

Agreed, but luckily 360 has a plethora of other games to keep you interested. Tekken 6 is pretty low on the list for me as well, but it's a hell of a lot better than previous tekken games and it is a fighter. So...
GO FIGHTING GAMES!
