View Full Version : Sony disappoints...yet again

We waited God knows how many years for GT Mobile on the PSP,
only to be disappointed greatly.
800 cars and over 60 tracks with the ability to share or trade cars with other people. Cool!
No simulation mode or any ability to buy and upgrade cars? You know, one of the main reasons people buy Gran Turismo in the first place? Gone. Non-existant. That's terrible. They expect people to just race the same car over and over again to collect everything? The whole experience probably just cames up way too short.
6.8 on IGN

When was the last time they disappointed, just curious?
6.8 for a Gran Turismo game? No way.

A) It's a portable game - what do you expect? I mean, to be fair it has over 800 cars, and is in the style of a typical racer. Chances are if you're playing a racing game on a handheld system, you don't want, nor expect to log massive hours on it like you do on a console version.
B) How does Sony disappoint? Shouldn't Polyphony Digital sort of take the blame, being the developer and all? Unless it's just some inner fanboy rage seeping up, then that's excusable, but just this once.

Same.
Though I think they should have done more with the PSP version. Its sad that the Psx versions are better..

I guess I was wrong about the disappointment, but I mean do you NEED 800 cars in a portable game? Especially when the reviews say you can't even tell what they are?
I know that long hours aren't supposed to be dished out with a handheld game, but then if that wasn't what handheld games do, then why bother making a half assed attempt for a Gran Turismo game?
It just took so long to develop and we ended up with nothing. Or barely anything.

That's the same as saying do you need a near direct port of Gran Turismo 4/5 on a handheld system so close to the release of a new game in which you'll log many hours of actual gameplay opposed to just a sheer racing game.

But Gran Turismo is famous not only for it's realistic driving (which is still there, that's just dependent on the engine) but it's known for the in depth simulation.
I don't think I know anyone that doesn't play the hell out of the simulation mode and barely even touch arcade mode unless they're racing other people.

But what I'm trying to make the point of, is I think considering it's handheld, they were going for more of an arcade feel, and less of a simulation feel, considering they also have a simulation game coming out relatively soon.

Not to mention Sony just released a software update for the PS3 a few weeks ago that made several games lock up, one of them being Uncharted. Right after I purchased it, of course. You would think they would test this stuff...
but in any even they allready released an update that fixed the issues, so yay! I love my PS3, because it is better than the Xbox and it plays Blu-Rays.
