Well I MUST say.

This is another achievement in the whole line-up of Mario RPG.

The game is ridiculous in plot, super funny, and a little too much fun to play.

Anyone else have it? Your thoughts?

Well, being a huge fan of most of the Mario RPGs, I picked this up. And I'm about 7 hours in or so, and it seems like it really is Bowser's story as I've played as him a lot more than the Bros.

That said, the gameplay is fun, a nice mix of platforming and isometric gameplay. The combat is fun and always active. It uses the DS in some interesting ways. Though would hate to do some battles in public.

Agreed. Lot of button mashing and rapid tapping, sliding, etc.

I don't mind the button mashing or rapid tapping, but the sliding and especially the breathing into a mic is a bit much. :lolz:

Aah, I was hoping there wasn't any DS-specific gameplay. I just want classic button-pressing :)

I'm very excited about it though :)

The tapping and sliding and stuff is only for special scenes or moves that use SP. And that's only for when playing as Bowser as well. The core of the game is still the buttons only approach from the other handheld RPGs. And the DS-specific gameplay is no hindrance at all.

As a matter of fact I was hoping from Partners in Time that there was more to do with the stylus other than pull it out ONCE in the entire game to clean mud off some map or whatever it was. My prayers were answered wonderfully.

Odds are I will acquire that game tonight.

I'm discovering more and more that all the RPGs this gen are on the DS. Leaves me feeling somewhat indifferent. Hmm, there isn't an option to play DS games on a TV screen is there? Like through the Wii maybe? Wishful thinking I guess.

I assume not until Touch TVs become a viable option.

And yeah a ton of great RPGs on the DS, mostly what I use it for... even though don't like em.. go figure.

Anyhow, of course I end up with a Giga Bowser fight on the plane, the people next to me must have thought I was crazy blowing into my DS and tapping the screen so damn much.

The battles are rather different, and I like how its somewhat like a puzzle/reflex game in the battles as you find your oppenent's tell and learn how to counter effectively. Think one of the few RPG battles where you can actually engage in battles without taking damage even in boss fights.

That kind of gaming mechanic for Mario RPGs was around since Super Mario RPG. In the sense that you could deal more damage with timed attack, etc. It's worked for them wonderfully though.

Took me about 16 hours with some minimal sidequest stuff, but overall the game was actually pretty epic! Another Nintendo gem!

That was a fantastic game, probably pulling ahead as favorite Mario/Bowser RPG.

Awesome special moves, some cool bosses, fantastic dialogue, and the Super KO punch!

I think my mom gave me a look when I was sitting in the car driving to visit my brother and I said "Eat that motherfucker" when Bowser gave the Super KO Punch. I had my noise canceling headphones on so I was in my own world.
