Now that we are at the official start of September, the summer movie season is pretty much over.

While summer goes until the end of the month, Labor Day is considered by most to be the official end to summer, and it was quite a summer for movies. We had some near record-breakers and a few heartbreakers.

So who were your winners and losers this summer.
Best movie of the summer?
Worst movie of the summer?
Best scene?
Worst scene?

Anything that really stood out?

And for the sake of this thread, the summer starts first week in May and went up to this past weekend.

I see this is gonna be fun.

I haven't seen IB yet so...

Best movie: Star Trek, Hangover or Up
Worst movie: Transformers 2/Wolverine
Best Surprise: Star Trek (not a fan of the series... well just never watched them) and GI Joe (it wasn't good, but it wasn't as bad as one would expect)
As Expected: Wolverine was pretty much as bad as I expected.
Worst Scene: Robot heaven, for many reasons... actually the entire climax of Transformers 2
The Use of 3d: I've seen only two movies this summer with it, but it was awesome in Harry Potter if only for 10 minutes or so and UP was an awesome movie all in all.

Best = Public Enemies!
Pretty good = District 9, Star Trek
Bad, but I'll say it was decent in front of my girlfriend = Harry Potter 6.
Genuinely bad, but good action flick = GI Joe.

I can't believe I have to sit through two more Harry Potters. Uuuugh.

Did you read/like the books?

I loved the 6th movie, but I probably wouldn't have if I hadn't read the book.

Favorite: District 9
Enjoyable: The Hangover
Forgettable: Star Trek
As for Wolverine, I only saw the leaked unfinished version. Pretty cool seeing how it was made but I can't judge the final movie.

Waiting for Up on DVD.

Also like the breath of fresh air, there were only (as far as I remember) two superhero/comic book movies released this year thus far in Wolverine and Watchmen.

Hahah, nope. I hear they're pretty long, too.

Don't take it personal but I hated how whiney it was about relationships. Especially because they didn't delve into any particular relationship. Also the "skin" conversation was pretty awkward.

A lot more grandiose things happened in the previous movies and I felt like nothing happened in this one. Granted, they're allowed to be cookie-cutter, but not up to a point where they expect to do the finale in two damn films. That's ridiculous.

Best: Inglorious Basterds

Worst: Transformers 2 (Even though I didn't see)

Surprise: Star Trek

Yesterday I saw Public Enemies. In the end I realized I really liked it. Good acting, especially from the girl.

And it was nice to see Leelee Sobieski again, even though it was a tiny role.
