PONTEFRACT, England, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A British man has complained to candy maker Haribo about a candy wrapper he described as sexually charged.

Simon Simpkins of Pontefract, England, said the Haribo Maoam wrapper depicts a "male" lime character engaged in a "sexy clinch" with a cartoon lemon, The Sun reported Tuesday.

Simpkins said in his complaint to the company that the lime bears a "lurid and distasteful" facial expression, the British tabloid reports.

The candy maker said the image was not intended to be interpreted as sexual.

"At no point was it intended to create sexual images," a representative said.

Don't these complainers realize the only thing making these images sexual are the thoughts in their own mind? Fuck off with this shit.

Sexuality has ben used in advertising for years, and while the first picture is a hilarious illustration of this, it's been done far more subtly in the past:

Well I mean clearly it's implied sex, because we all know backrubs lead to sex.

I see nothing but humanized fruits enjoying the company of others. Nothing sexual about it at all.

Like the time you gave Dylflon's brother a backrub!

That green guy is obviously banging the lemon.

Aren't those first 4 fake ones? Because if they're not, I can see the guy's point... especially with the last 3.

First off, I'm fairly sure it's not meant to be sexual. I base that certainty on nothing at all.

Even if it is sexual, so what?

However, I think the person who made them wasn't going for a "This awkward lima bean wants to fuck fruit."

Really, I just wanted to stick the BK ad in the thread.

Sexual? Again, the only thing making it sexual are the thoughts in your head. Maybe we should just censor your thoughts.

Really. Let's go fact by fact. We have two fruits, which last I checked have no genitalia besides seeds. The two fruits are rubbing themselves together in playful banter trying to merge their two flavors into one. While this method may not actually work, they're goddamn fruits with no brains, what do you expect? At the same time, it looks like they're enjoying each other's flavors. Well, what do you do when you eat a fruit? Do you get all hot and bothered because there's some sexual image popping in your head about you licking a fruit and then eating it??? No, you savor the flavor and eat the goddamn fruit.

I mean seriously, if you're worried about propagating sexual images, censor the guy complaining about it. The man said "The lemon and lime are locked in what appears to be a carnal encounter. The lime, who I assume to be the gentleman in this coupling, has a particularly lurid expression on his face."

Damn dude! He makes a more sexual picture in his head than the two sterile brainless fruits just playing together.

Mana, I think you may be overreacting (and overstating your view) just a tad bit. I can definitely see some sexual overtones in those pictures (whether they are real or fake is irrelevant), and I don't think you need to draw a pair of tits and a ballsack on an apple to make that connection. You certainly don't have to be a pervert or something to do so. I also don't think it's a big deal because only adults would be able to make those connections. I actually think it's pretty funny.

In the multi-example photo, the top left and bottom right images are especially reminiscent of shit I've done with my wife. Perhaps you're not making the connection... because you just don't get any ass? (j/k ;) )

Dude, I said "sterile brainless fruits" in my post. I was only jokingly exaggerating.

But at the same time, I do think it's stupid when people get upset enough to complain about such images. There is in fact nothing there that is sexual except what you make of it. Show the images to young kids -- how do you think they would describe them?

Nothing. Like I said earlier, they wouldn't know to make anything of them because they've never had sex nor have their balls dropped yet.

We could totally do a thread on sexuality in advertising, both the subtle and the blatant kinds. I'm busy with school but if I can find some free time I may put a thread together, it's a fun topic...especially when you look at the conservative juxtaposition of most TV viewers.
