Would you want to be law enforcement/government or fire fighters in a city with supers?

I only ask because was reading Gotham Central, and it is curious how life would be from their POV.

Often times dealing with problems far past their field of expertise or depending on someone who works outside the law.

Supers?

Superheroes.

Edit: To answer the question, I'd be cool with being a cop or something in the city. At least in Metropolis....not so sure about Gotham.

(Holy shit I just realized Gary Oldman plays Sirius Black in Harry Potter and Detective Gordon in Batman...woah!)

Ah, I was thinking supermarkets, but that didn't make much sense.

It's tough being a cop in a city with supermarkets.

I would actually think it would be the opposite.

Even with Superman, you have to figure his villains are generally on a level equal to his own, and all the property damage/clean-up that comes with that.

While you deal with psychos and madmen in Gotham, you at least can come to terms with that eventually.

Originally he just fought bank robbers. His biggest baddie is human who engages in real estate scams. And then there's Toyman...

I think a city with Superheroes would be really awesome.

Sure, there may be overpowered super-villains, however they never/rarely attack the suburbs, farmlands or break into your houses. They rob banks, threaten to freeze the city. Shroud it in darkness.

Having Superman in a city would nearly abolish petty crime. Who wants to mug an old lady when Superman would swoop down and laser beam their hands off? Who wants to rob a convenience store when Spider-Man will just catch them in a web? Who wants to steal cars when Batman will batmarang their ass. Who wants to jaywalk when Robin will lustily stare at them?

I mean sure, there would most likely be supervillians, but they don't do day-to-day mass evil things. It takes them months to plan things out, and to even get the funding and set up something as extravagant as blocking the sun or freezing the city would take time. Think of 3 95% crime-free months. And even if major crime happens, the super-hero always solves it within a matter of days. Then you get another 3 or 4 virtually crime-free months.

Not only that, but it would give little kids some major positive role models to look up to and want to be.

Not to mention Superman villains are a little more colorful and cheery than the Batman ones (imo). I feel like if I was a cop in Metropolis I would normally only deal with bank robbers and such, and Superman could just super speed fly in and beat the crap out of them. I mean how many local law enforcement in Metropolis are going to be taking on the modern super villain? I'd be more worried about being a cop in Gotham with all the gangsters and the organized gang crime. And then with guys like The Joker....yup. I would take Metropolis.

I never understood how Superman would fly up and look at Earth from space though. You figure he is either a global hero or should just stay in Metropolis. I mean what does Batman think about all this?

Haha, I thought you meant supers as in apartment supers.
