View Full Version : I'm getting a car
Not to steal Typhoid's title thunder (:D) but I'm looking at cars right now and I'm seriously considering this Dodge Charger.
It kind of explains my lack of coming here. At work, I either work hard or check out car forums. After a gajillion hours of research, I've started going for the Charger.
I know I'm going to be broke and that's totally fine by me. I haven't bought a video game or a movie seriously in a very long time (besides EA Active which isn't really a game, and I got it for half price!)
If I actually go through with this tomorrow, then my Dodge Intrepid 1994 is going to say bye-bye to me and hello to the scrap yard. Thanks to the government of BC, of course, through the help of the Scrap-It program, I'm getting major moolah to upgrade to a more carbon-efficient car (which is hilarious because the Charger's engine is only slightly larger than my Intrepid's.)
Hoorah! Pictures! And yes, those are 20" wheels. Totally unnecessary. I will probably buy the car without them.

Charger would be nice.
That would definitely make coffee/sushi drives more epic.:p
Also, you're referring to me as Typhoid now? What the hell, Phil! :lolz:

I was very close to buying a Charger. And then decided that the Avenger made more sense for me. I say, go for it. I'm still going to get one soon. But for now my new Avenger is great! Although, I would shy away from red. You're more likely to get pulled over. Although, that could just be a Missouri statistic.
NAME IT SNARF!
 You beat me to it.
Red cars go faster!
Hahah, weird - it's odd how fast I can change my mind.
I ended up with a Nissan Sentra, a sweet little Compact with all the features I could ever want. In Granite, too, not just black.
Brand new 2009. I haven't even put 300km on it yet. It's granite colour, too.
I pay no interest while I pay it off for 5 years. A hell of a deal. Whatever payments I make go 100% to the car. As well with the Sentra I got $1000 for graduating instead of Toyota's $500 grad rebate. On top of this, I get $2250 for scrapping the Intrepid now.
Seriously. I never thought I'd be buying a new car. This car rocks my socks off. I actually seriously look forward to driving every time. And I still have a full tank of gas apparently - the mileage is goddamn killer.
Hell yeah. :D

Mileage? Don't you guys use the metric system? Or is that just used as a generic term for fuel economy?

Generic term.
I don't think "Kilometrage" would ever catch on.
It may not catch on but I'm ok with Kilometrage!

Yeah, it's kind of like it's cut off. It's sweet. I'm thinking about a spoiler but that might just be stupid if it doesn't affect kilometrage or anything.

Attached! Mine is brown. The listed MPG is 26-35, for miles anyways. I just filled up 43 liters after 655km. Not bad at all! More mileage and wayyyyy less liters to fill up.

In Dutch we use kilometers, but we don't have a single word for mileage. We just talk about how many kilometers it has.

Yeah I sort of have a feeling for converting miles to kms. I always remember that Back To The Future's 88 miles an hour is 144 km/h.
Last weekend when some Americans asked how far away our hotel was, I estimated that 20km is about 13 miles.
Anyway... still happy with your car? I don't think I'll get a car any soon.
Heck yeah I am. I've saved so much money on gas, bwahaha.
I was always a big fan of the Nissan GT-R so this is like a dream come true, sort of. A mini GT-R. Just like the ads say, it's the best part of my day. I can't wait to drive it in the morning and again at night.
