And we round out the trio of platform holders with Sony. They are having quite the year with building momentum in Japan, and hanging on in the States, but how will they rebound after losing any exclusive franchise to Sony? What about their big blockbuster games?
We already know about the PSP Go, but what about the rumored PS3 Slim? Will we finally see a price drop?

Uncharted 2 as you would imagine, looks friggin awesome.

MAG kind of looks boring.

Mag also had frame rate issues. Kind of surprising since PS3 is supposed to be the current gen powerhouse.
Anyway, Mag was done on a smaller scale already and in more exciting environments. Those games are Natural Selection and Savage of course. 256 players is a total gimmick. And Mag looks boring. Boo.

Argh they raised the price of the PSP back up to launch price. That can't be good.
The Metal Gear game looks awesome for a handheld.

What's with all the gay innuendos in Metal Gear Solid? Solid Snake looks like he is wearing assless chaps when he bends down to crouch....and what was with the humping with the 2 snakes in the box at the end?
Metal Gear Solid: The Rainbow Coalition???

Holy shit FF 14 shown, and only for PS3.
IT is also an online experience.
And comes out next year as well!

FFXI-2 basically, but still: awesome. FFXIII looks kickass, I'm actually excited about an RPG again.

Am I the only one impressed by the motion control? It worked really well, maybe even better than WiiMotionPlus.
The way they introduced it was a bit stupid though. "Imagine selecting a spell, and the wand will glow red and you throw your fireball!"
The software of the tech demos looked a bit primitive, although it showed the hardware was pretty much working.
Of course, it will never take off this generation, much like the 360's.

You mean the Sony anal wand? The one that is in early engineering development? I thought that tech demo was a total piece of shit. It looked very unprepared. I think Sony had that demo as a backup in case Microsoft or Nintendo had major news, and they did. Looks like Sony has really fallen behind with the motion control stuff.
It's not a coincidence that Sony chose a hypothetical release date for their anal wand motion control system that is similar to Microsoft's.
Earl noticed the problem that when using the Sony anal wand you can't move your character. Notice in the demo how character was stuck in place? Seems like Wii nunchuck is an essential and important part of controlling with motion sensors.
I think Microsoft has something that is a Wii-topper. Possibly. But there are still major limitation with not having buttons or axis to a joypad. This Sony thing is just a blatant Wii ripoff intended to compete with the competition though.

Motion control, yeah, looks kind of interesting. I don't know, I guess I don't really care about motion control on any platform. It's one of those things where it could be fun, it might be inventive, but to me it takes a backseat to regular, straight-up controller games. If the two types of games want to coexist, that's fine.
But ignoring motion control, man, Sony was on their game with this conference. It was like one massive title after the other. FFXIII then FFXIV, and there's still FFXIII Versus to come, thats a hell of a lot of FF. And then Gran Turismo 5, and then Team ICO's Last Guardian, and then God of War 3. Really really solid, I thought.
You know, overall, a very solid E3 thus far. Maybe I feel a little spoiled because the last two years were rubbish, but I can honestly say for maybe the first time ever that all three companies have me impressed and are working towards delivering some amazing stuff in the next year or so.

I agree that it is a nice time to be a gamer, but Sony's conference seemed to be missing something.
I think because outside of the kart racer and FF 14, most of their marquee games were known and had been shown off before.
And maybe its just me, but I don't get the love for GoW 3.
Though I have to say personally speaking FF 14 impressed me a lot more than 13. Uncharted 2 looks so friggin awesome. And the MGS for PSP was bad-ass.

Haha same here, I don't see what's so cool about God of War. I never played it though.
The way he built a level for the cart racer was great. But it's only out in 2010?? They should finish up now and slap it on PSN.

Well...play them? They're incredible games, honestly. I have the impression that some people write them off as mindless brawlers with excessive violence, but they are very solid adventure games with huge scale and incredible presentation. Great storytelling and very cinematic.

Hey I suddenly remembered something. Last Eł, didn't Microsoft say that they didn't have any short-term software (holiday 2008), but a lot of stuff for the longer term (2009+)?
This time that's what Sony said.
Interesting.
And on motion control... Wii still has the huge advantage of being the first to do it. It took the competition too long to realize they were onto something.
Maybe I'm just impressed because I really like how the motion technology is advancing.
I'm also worried that Nintendo does not have the patent of the best available tech (Natal)...
Uncharted 2 looks very nice.
What happened to Home?

They showed a reel of it, but it was rather boring.

I think it's safe to say Sony kicked MS and Nintendo in the balls, then walked away laughing. Well played dudes, well played.
As I see it, nobody really won.
The only thing that wowed me was the Last Guardian trailer. Holy shit. That's beautiful.
Sony Motion Control dildos - what's the point? That's like admitting defeat to Nintendo. Microsoft's was a blatant ripoff of the Eyetoy idea, but they didn't look like they stole it. They improved the concept. Sony's was just embarrassing.

I think it's safe to say that Sony raised the price on their uncomfortable looking new PSP unit, they rushed a tech demo for their Sony anal wand because Microsoft unveiled Project Natal, and they showed a bunch of predictable titles. Oh and Metal Gear Solid: Assless Chaps.
And I think most people at this forum know that I spend most of my time on the gaming board bitching about how lame Nintendo is sooo....
