Well, two big speeches tomorrow from a former VP and a current President. Mr. Cheney has come out swinging after leaving office. It is quite obvious he is very angry.

See the anger?

It will be interesting to see how these speeches play out.

Ugh, the tenor of politics these days has really pised me off. It seems like everything is about one-upmanship and ad hominem attacks (from both sides, BTW). Dick Cheney needs to go away. I don't dislike the man, and in fact, I even think a man of his conviction and demeanor were necessary post 9/11, but his time is done. It's time for the young republicans to come up through the ranks if the GOP wants to stay relevant.

What really bugs me is that Cheney is giving his speech at the exact same time at the President. DO WE EVEN RESPECT THIS OFFICE ANYMORE? It started with calling Bush an idiot, and it seems the other side is playing a childish game of tit for tat. Worse, this will only further polarize this nation. Those that sympathize with Obama will watch him, and those that sympathize with the Republicans will watch Cheney. There will be no dialogue, or response to one another's ideas, just two people taking over each other followed by the endless bickering of pundits on 24 hour news stations that have nothing better to broadcast.

I keep feeling like the GOP wants to live in the past, trying to resurrect visions of Ronald Reagan instead of having meaningful discussions of why his ideas worked. Does the RNC really think attempting to tie the democrat party to the term "socialist" will achieve anything? I'll even admit to falling into that habit during the election when passions overtook my better judgement, but I quickly came to the conclusion that to younger generations now coming into their own, that term means nothing. I'm 32 and I barely remember the cold war. These terms like socialist and liberal are no longer self-evident. We are back to the point of arguing ideas, and not assuming the voting public knows the definition of the names of the ideas or will respond to name calling.

Ayn Rand actually said it the best that the GOP can't argue that an idea is correct simply because it's old; they need to reach out to people's reason and not their emotion. Conservatives can't win emotion based arguments, leftists have a monopoly on this. (ignore the "communist" portion, as that was more a sign of the times than anything else)

She is an amazing public speaker, isn't she? LOL!:D

I kind of hope Cheney keeps blathering on. I believe the record will show or has already that using torture didn't get us anything we couldn't have gotten through other methods, and worse, likely gave us false information and not to mention ruined our reputation abroad (but, of course, who needs a good reputation, we're the most powerful country in the world (for now)! We don't need no stinkin' friends).

So, yes, the man is polarizing. The people have spoken, Cheney, and they certainly didn't vote for you. Move aside.

Dick Cheney's opinion now means nothing. Nobody cares. Bush seems to have shut up, Cheney should do the same.
