Kick Ass Music Video Thread [Archive]

I'm so sick of shitty music videos. I can't stand rap videos with all the bling and retarded hand motions and I can't stand all the shitty nu rock videos (Nickleback and their clones) where they cut to a slow motion clip of the drummer or singer like they are all hardcore.

So this is the kick ass music video thread. Post music videos that are creative, have good artistic direction, or just do something better than the usual MTV bullshit. I've noticed that music videos were better back in the day so scan those childhood memories!

A lot of videos have been pulled from YOUTUBE, but MTV's website has a decent archive. Anyway, I'll start:

Personally I like this video, interesting animation / art style not a very old song I know but I think this fits well into your category :D

I'm assuming the MTV videos are region locked but the youtube ones play? I'll try to stick with just Youtube videos, and I'll post links to videos where embedding is disabled.

Anyway, big thumbs up for those Tool videos. I am a huugggeee Tool fan and was planning on posting their videos but you beat me to it. :p

I also love the Aphex Twin. The Windowlicker video is awesome too.

Ok I would not necesseraly call this a 'kick ass' video but it is a kick ass song and that freaky little alien kids face has stuck in my mind for a long time. Now it can get stuck in yours ;)

1. I have often wondered about this. I never really knew where it came from, there are video's of SOAD performing it in concert on you tube, did they steal it?

Can someone please please please explain how Lady Gaga and the above video is "awesome"? I just don't get why bad acting, bad music, bad production values and shameless advertising is good. Don't get me wrong, I think a lot of pop music is great, I just don't get the Gaga fascination. I normally like Beyonce songs, and I didn't even like her here.

Yeah it is. Lady Gaga was one of Bond's better postings and her album is awesome.
The acoustic versions of Lady Gaga's songs were definitely a good find... but as far as this video goes, I actually have to agree with Germy. I really don't think it is that good of a video. The song makes absolutely no sense in relation to the video's plot.

Since when has lady gaga ever made sense?

I mostly just thought it was awesome because of 2 reasons:

1. The "I told you she doesn't have a dick" part. Apparently the video can be found without the blur, and you can actually see her completely normal vagina. Anyway this is the biggest gaga thing out there "She's a man I saw her dick" is commented on ever youtube video out there, and she addressed this, and I found it to be hilarious.

2. The Pussy Wagon from Kill Bill.

And yeah the video has nothing to do with the song, but surprise none of her videos have anything to do with her songs, they're always campy and off the wall.

To respond to Germy:

I really don't know why she's awesome either. Mostly her songs just get stuck in my head. I hear them at clubs constantly when I go out. I mean sometimes it's back-to-back gaga music, especially at gay clubs.

Gaga actually didn't get paid for a good portion of the product placement. Some were included sort of as Warholian homages to memories in her life or commentaries on society. Others were extensions of marketing deals with her tour, record label, etc.

Yeah, I guess advertising in videos shouldn't be a surprise. The OK Go thing doesn't really interrupt the video at all though.

And hey, we've had songs on commercials, it's actually kept us afloat more than anything, so I guess I can't say much about it.

That is more Lovecraft than anything I've seen that wasn't actually written by Lovecraft. Do you have any other recommendations for this style? I find most that advertise "Lovecraft" type content generally don't go to the nth degree of horror like this video does. A good Lovecraft type story should make you question the point of existence. Not the point of YOUR existence, but the point of ANYTHING existing.:D

Not sure what the deal is exactly. Doesn't resemble the rest of this guy's songs. In fact it appears to be a cover of
