Personally, I'm a big fan of "shit".

Shit can be used in various forms, from explaining you have just defecated, to telling someone how badly their slapshot sucked. And I enjoy that. Because really, nothing is graphically worse than "sucking shit".

I think my word changes per week, but I've always been fond of kinky.

I mean just saying it makes everything some how dirties.

Lies

Replace 'Shit' with 'Lies' in typhoids post to get a kind of example of how I use this word.

It all started like this. One day, it was a lunch time, in my kitchen I found myself, I decided to make a sandwich, not just any sandwich, one mother fucker of sandwitch, it took time and love, by the time I had made this sandwich I was hungry, I mean I really wanted to eat this sandwich.

On my way to the dining table I dropped the sandwich on the floor!

And what did I do you ask yourself???
I shouted at the top of my voice 'LIES' and walked away.

This made me forget what had happened, take a breath, then go back clean it up and have a cup of tea instead.

Thus was born what I call the 'philosophy of lies'

From this point on lies crept it's way into my life, it grew and changed and diversified until it managed to manifest itself into many different meanings and uses in day to day life until a multiverse of lies was created. The words true meaning becoming twisted and lost somewhere along the lines.

Usually it's things like "Hey it's your turn to go to the shop and get milk" ... "Lies" ... even when it is not lies, it is your turn, what is lies (in the way I mean it) is the fact that you have to go.

Adopt lies... next time you drop something, put your washing out and it rains, stub your toe or die on your computer game say LIES and soon you will see what I mean, what lies is and why lies is good.

Petrified.

I don't know, somehow it just sounds awesome. I doubt it's my favorite, but it's in my top 10.

Quintessence.

Cool sounding word, cool meaning, and in the coolest Shakespeare monologue ever.

"What a piece of work is a man! How noble in reason! How infinite in faculty! In form, in moving, how express and admirable! In action how like an angel! In apprehension how like a god! The beauty of the world! The paragon of animals! And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me; no, nor woman neither, though, by your smiling, you seem to say so." - Hamlet

Other than the fact i tend to not have favourites for anything, i'm not sure i could ever have a true favourite word in the English language. As the biggest language in the world (in terms of word count), you could probably never know every word.

Either way, here's a couple:

Idiosyncraitc
It has a very complete sound to it, i personally only ever use it in a positive way, if i ever describe anyone as idiosycratic, it's intended as a compliment.

Sublime
Again a complete sounding descriptive word. Some words lose meaning through there over use, words like Great or Beautiful can become some what disposable due to there apparent misuse, but Sublime remains a strong penetrative word.

Ric: I do like your 'idiosyncratic' use of the word 'lies' :D

Clockwork

I like the look. I like the sound. I like what it implies.

Elegant. Sleek. Sultry. And sounds great coming out of Wakko's mouth.

I'm not cool enough to have a favorite word. I use "craptacular" a lot though, it gets my point across.

I like the Spanish pronunciation of "Cuba." It's like pooh-buh, only with a "C."

My new favourite words are 'Earl' and 'Three Dog'

Why?

Because of the fun I had making these :tdgb: :tdgw:

What's even funnier is how few people have noticed they have been added to the forums. I cant wait till BaB sees these

Ric, what is 'Earl Three Dog' suppose to mean, or what does it refer to?

Humm, i knew BreakABone's name was Earl, but some reason never occured to me it was in reference to him. Yet to play through Fallout 3 (which wont happen for a long time now, not worth having my 360 sent out here). Cheekily, it seems the thread of your request for the smilies has been removed.

I know, it got removed so a certain person would not see it. I uploaded the images from my P.C to that thread and some kind person added them to GT's smilies index for me. I was gonna wait and see how long it was before they were noticed, which is why the thread was deleted, but I could not wait.

I at least waited for one other person to use it first http://www.gametavern.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19364&page=2 see Angrists post ;)

I used to really like the word German, hence the screename.

Is that because you dont like them, hence German / Terminator, Germanator.? Or are you German and a terminator?

I dont like Germans, I cant say I met any I liked anyway, I even lived in Germany so I have first hand experience. I too use the word German a lot, often coupled with Lies. For example, you are watching the Grand Prix and your favourite racer gets overtaken. I will shout something like 'You Cheating German Lies' even if the other racer is not German and did not cheat.

Yes I use these words completly out of context. But read my previous post about 'Lies' and it may make things less confusing.

There's a Dutch 'word' I really like: belacheloos. Or ongelofeloos. They're supposed to be belachelijk and ongelofelijk, but when you replace lijk with loos, you reverse the meaning (loos probably reminds you of loss).
So when you say something is belacheloos, you imply that it's ridiculous, but literally you're saying it's not.

Some people started using it on a forum 6 years ago. I kept saying it in real life and now slowly other people are starting to adapt. :D

I think we should all give a salute to the word manhole.

Defined by Princeton,
a hole (usually with a flush cover) through which a person can gain access to an underground structure

Never has a word harbored so much sexual context!
