Hey guys..so I have pneumonia. I've had a fever ranging from 99.5 to a little over 100 all weekend, but when I woke up this morning it was 103. And because of the fever I couldn't stop shivering and I had no control over my body for about an hour. When I went to the doctor, they told me I probably have pneumonia.
So, have any of you guys ever had it? If so, what do you think I should eat? One of my friends is going to the store for me, and he's getting fruits and vegetables (which I'll eat raw, I don't mind), but is there anything else I should ask for?

Damn, I didn't get a chance to ask for soup. I have heard that drinking chicken broth is good too.

Oh I don't know... maybe anti-biotics?

Haha, yeah I have that covered already. I'm taking Azithromycin. I'm also taking 800mg of Ibuprofen three times a day, and I'm to use my inhaler as well.

I haven't had pneumonia since I was younger, but I had it a few times as a kid. But yeah, soup and easy to eat veggies and fruit are probably good.

Whatever feels good and is healthy enough.
Try tea. Lots of tea.

I like plain tea with raspberry syrup, it's really good...if you can get real raspberry syrup, it's the most soothing thing. Tons of fluids. When I'm sick I try to drink as many fluids as I can. Tea, water, juice...that's the good stuff.
You can also drink chicken broth straight out of the can. That's good too. Just boil it and pour it into a cup. The broth is salty and delicious, it usually soothes the throat and gives you a nice warm sensation.
I've dealt with like 6 or 7 respiratory infections this year so I know how you feel.

Unfortunately, I don't like tea..crazy right? I don't really like hot drinks that much. As for drinking fluids, I'm trying, but it's really upsetting my stomach. I'll just have to tough it out.
I have an 8 hour exam on Saturday! It's not a final.

Just take it easy.
Don't exert yourself, and drink lots of soup and tea.
You just have to grit your teeth through it.
Also, I thought it was funny that the first thing you said was "I have pneumonia" and finished off that same paragraph with "The Doctor said I probably have pneumonia."
I hope you don't do the same mistake for Cancer. :p

I was delusional, so excuse my redundancy. I'm starting to feel a little better actually, and I'm eating more food, which will be good to keep up my strength.

I can't sleep.
I've been trying since 10:20 PM, and it's now 3:14 AM! This is ridiculous. I'm so sick that I can't sleep? My head hurts so much, and I was struggling breathing unless I forced it out. This is the third night now that I have had trouble sleeping, I just don't know what to do. How can I get better if I don't get any rest?

Have you tried watching a movie? Usually if I turn on a movie at 2 or 3 in the morning I fall asleep within 10 or 15 minutes. Otherwise I toss and turn as well.

No, I haven't, but I'd rather not try. I might just try to fall asleep in my chair. It is comfortable, and I seem to feel better when I'm sitting upright. I'm so sleep deprived right now, that I feel a little crazy.

Watch TV laying down on a couch/bed with the lights off.

Sleeping while sitting? I'd think that your body needs to lie down to fight the disease.
But I know how it feels, when you're so sick you can't sleep. :( Not much you can do about it. Maybe try a mild pain killer, it could help.
Do you know how you got pneumonia? And did the doctor give you those drugs on the assumption that you had pneumonia, or did he do anything to confirm it?

I went back to the doctor, and now they're saying I have a sinus infection, and whatever I had in my lungs before is gone, because I'm not wheezing. I had to get new antibiotics, so hopefully they'll work.

Haha. I get sinus infections every year, they're fun! I got my renewal for my prescription flonase, and I picked up some Claritin D on request of my doc. I took the Claritin at 10pm. Turns out Claritin causes insomnia and heart palpitations in some people...I was up all night with an accelerated heart tossing and turning and having these recurring nightmares that lasted for like 10 minutes. I'm bumping my Claritin down to noon, hopefully it will keep me awake during the part of the day I don't want to sleep.
